This really is a tough call, because a lot of unpredictable variables at play:

1) Ayton and Booker really could be a couple of game changers playing together, especially as the season goes on... and some of the other younger players could make the jump to being great complements to them.

2) We could trade for a difference making PG at some point during the season.

3) Igor could be a really good coach.

4) Or everything could go typically Phoenix Suns-wrong, and our season is yet another total bust.

I just don't know... I think it will be better than everyone is expecting, but will not be surprised if it goes disasterpiece, either.

I will say 40-42, and we are picking at the end of the lottery.

Really want to say the team will hit 38 or 39 wins... But just don't see it. Ayton will look great in many games for sure... But he's a 20 year-old rookie. He will make mistakes... and likely, a lot of them.
We don't have a legit PG.
I'm still not 100% sold on JJ... Will he truly establish himself/his role this year? What exactly is he??
Hoping Bridges makes us feel good about the trade we made to get him...

I'll say 33 wins...

I've thought that every year for the past several years and I've been way off. So, this year, I'm holding out hope but I have decidedly lowered expectations.

To Be fair I feel confident that if healthy and trying to win every game last year they likely get at least a handful more wins. As bad as we were I just don't think we were really the worst team in the league.

I did too but after the season ended I started wondering about that. If you do that for us, for the purposes of this evaluation, wouldn't you have to do that for the other teams too? How many wins did we get during the season because the other team either wasn't fully trying to win, was suffering injuries or just underperformed because they didn't feel the need to focus on us? I don't have the answer, I just think it raises some questions about the idea that we would have won more had we been healthy and win oriented.

We without a doubt tanked at the end of the season. Had we never entered tank mode and played every player that was capable of playing than I think we win at least a handful more games. Also not all teams have to play almost half the season without their best player like we did without Booker.

Well, sure, I understand that. And I agree that we would have won some games we lost. But my point was that other teams tanked also and we got wins from some of them. And other teams took us lightly (even before we officially tanked) and we snuck out a couple of wins there too. And there might not have been many but certainly there were a few wins on our record that came as a result of injuries on the other side (3 wins against Memphis for example). I don't know what the net difference would be, I've just backed away from the idea that we should have won 5 to 10 more games last season.
