Welcome back TheSmel. Was wondering what happened to you. I see you're still impaling fish with a spear.

caught a 100 inch striped marlin in November at Cabo! Need to update pic! Kicked my disabled veteran ass, in the best way! My leg braces left me bloody and tattered, well still got scars from that fish! I’ll leave it all on the field, within my ability! Took a South American cruise and stayed in Chile awhile, during their riots! Turkey hunt this Friday and gold mining! Things I couldn’t do for quite awhile because of health! I may never pass this way again - so I hit the windows of opportunity with a sledge hammer!

I use to be cool naturally now I have to work at it! I like Drake but hope Eno develops into the wildcard- don’t like that he passed on a bowl game to prepare for pros! But he’s a different kind of devil, see if Simmons can figure him out in practice! Should be good for both of them!

Been to Chile a couple of times. Beautiful country. Really loved their national park, Torres del Paine. Really beautiful. Would recommend that trip to anyone.

No, you don't need a guy that thinks he is the starter when you have already a starter.

Cam isn't a backup. Take the money and sign Golden/Clowney ... but don't spend it on a QB that is a starter when you already have one on the cheap.

well He’s a pro bowl mvp caliber player - if he can’t beat out km hell surely push him! Plus - were just one NfCW sack away from an injured Murray and another decade of - just wait till next year!

He's done, he just hasn't accepted it yet.

He's a below average passer when he is healthy and he hasn't been healthy in 2 years.

I guess he would be ok as a backup, but he does not have the mentality that he is a backup. That would only lead to problems.

I personally think he's a lock for New England.

And I think they go right back to the top of the AFC East.

I would take that bet.

First off, you have not watched Cam lately - he sucks.

Second off, no way is he a Belichek type of QB. They will go after Dalton way before him.

This does bring up the philosophy of back up QB with a young starter. When you have a vet starter, you can draft a younger guy with starter potential to groom for a transition later. This is exactly what the Packers do.

But when you have a guy so young, your only option seems to be to bring in a solid veteran who knows he will never be a long term starter.

In a world where Taysom Hill gets 2/21/16, and injuries occur to QBs so frequently, I find it interesting that so many people here are willing to instantly write off Cam as an option in AZ when Hundley is apparently 50/50 to get cut (per the implications of the terms of Zeno’s bet).

The legitimate criticism seems to boil down to:
1. We can’t afford him. This is classic question begging: how do you know, when you don’t know what his price is? Every day he sits there, unsigned, his price goes down and his value goes up. Nobody even knows what he’s asking for now, much less when he remains unsigned 6 weeks from now.

2. He won’t be satisfied as a back-up. Almost all the Bayesian priors seem to argue against this: his teammates (Greg Olsen, Luke Kuechly, Christian McCaffrey, Steve Smith) all speak glowingly of him as a leader and winner. When healthy, he’s been a winner (68-55 as a NFL starter), and in 2018 he had a passer rating of 94. It’s definitely not certain that he will step in and be ok with being a back-up QB, but I have to think if he’s willing to sign then he will know his role. He’s an intelligent guy. Keim and Mike are intelligent guys. If this happens it will be because all three of them understand the situation. From the discussion on here it’s as if Cam not being a team player is already written in the stars. Where is the proof of that? He’s bizarre? So what? So is Hopkins ffs, and no one questions his will to win. If anything, I think Cam could be a positive influence on Kyler and I would bet very good money (at even odds) that Kyler respects the hell out of Cam. And he’s the guy that matters; not us losers on the Internet.

Finally, I think Cam (as another poster mentioned above) gives our offense a kind of Taysom Hill like component that could really help us in areas like 3rd and 4th and short (where we don’t really have a guy that can get that yardage consistently). If nothing else, Cam is a short yardage monster (better than anyone not named Brady at getting it).

Cams value goes through the roof when a starter at QB gets injured this year. Why would he sign up as a back up at a back ups money when he could be the next Bradford to get paid because a team (Cards) had no other option at QB.

Some players fall off a cliff with their play.

I agree with this.

The moment Hundley has to start long-term, our goose is cooked. Heck, I'd be willing to bet money that Hundley doesn't even win us a game if he just has to start one or two. The guy just isn't very good, and doesn't have the defense or surrounding cast to eke out dirty wins like Stanton did.

If Kyler went down, Cam is likely the first guy we'd call and get him into the playbook in a one week turnaround.

I think that’s BS! But true BS! They Don’t want to be in my squad in the Army, that would push me as a leader as I push them at their strong points and train up their weak points individually- everybody wants to be the leader, make the combat decision - until someone has to be chosen risk death for the team, the higher purpose, the mission! dity, honor, country!

I know it’s only football but still, The team would be better with Cam, Especially if KM gets smushed!
