What kind of pro prospect do you think this kid will be. Is he another VY? He seems to throw the ball really well.

a serious, serious project at the NFL level. Not worth the risk IMO.

I like Cam Newton,....never really been a fan of running QB's but Cam is a special talent. He has a cannon of an arm, throws a smooth deep ball.
At the next level he needs to learn a bit of patience, to let the play develop, before he takes off running.
He has good leadership, amazing athletic ability, decent smarts.....does not have the head that Luck has from what I have seen....but can make all of the throws.....IMO he will be a true franchise QB for someone, but it will likely take a few years for his true potential to come through....on a team like ours, he increases the win total instantly.
Good leadership, great energy......IMO Newton has the highest ceiling of all the QB's in the draft, he could be hall of fame material.........................but,well,....he could also crumble under the pressure and be out of the league in five years.
He reminds me of a bigger and faster Randall Cunningham.

Most of the doubts I have about stem from the unknowns,...he had some issues down in Florida,....then the issues this season........ I am hoping the young man learned from these events and it helped him to mature.....but the kid may just be a straight hustler too, and if that is the case, he will not make it in the NFL.

I haven't been a big Newton supporter but I have to admit he has thrown the ball really well so far today and his release doesn't look all that bad either.

The thing is his WR's are almost always wide open because of the fear of the run & the style of offense. I still don't think he can read NFL defenses & he tends to float alot of his passes, a no no at the next level. IMO I wouldn't touch the kid with a #1 pick, but the knowing the Cards & our draft history...he's doomed to wear Cardinal red :bang::bang::bang:

Well, Derek Anderson hits free agency in two years, and the team might want a backup plan on board in case the negotiations are contentious, always good if possible to protect yourself against the loss of a franchise quarterback.

A sound plan, let's just hope DA and his agent don't truly know just how good DA really is. I heard that he puts his heart and soul into his job, and that he takes his ish seriously.

Not only are his receivers open but he's had virtually no pressure either

I don't think he's doomed to wear Cardnal red....I think we're the ones who are doomed

To his credit, the reason he's not getting any pressure is because S Car is probably playing to contain him, instead of rushing him, trying to prevent a big running play because he is tough to get to the ground.

I'm afraid they might, he signed a very Arizona friendly 7.25 million deal for 2 years, and after so humbly choosing to sign below his value, I doubt he will do it again.

It appears $50,875,000 is the threshold for one to be able to comfortably put 2 children through college. Derek Anderson, being the penultimate alpha male, can be expected to sire at least 4 children. I expect he asks for no less than $200 million in his next contract.

I want to have Mallett I love his size and his arm is real good, I like Newton but you just never know with scramblers in the nfl... he could pay off big time or not at all. But eaither way the cardinals need a lot more help other then qb to win next year, secondary help is huge for us this offseason. Get a fast saftey or cb somewhere in the draft please cards!!!

Newton is exactly the kind of QB the Cards need unless they can trade with the Browns for Colt McCoy and go back to the Kurt Warner offense.

Our offensive line hasn't been able to pass block since the 1970's. A guy like Newton, who is a much better passer than VY :(, is just what the Doctor ordered to be spokesman for the Russ Grimm Swiss Cheese Co.

This kid will make it in the NFL. Even Auburn's defense has made leaps and bounds, because they know they have a chance with Newton. The whole team plays like winners and wouldn't be near the level they are with out him.

Luck in a heart beat, but I won't be crying if Luck is long gone and we go Newton. Newton or Mallet for that matter, but Newton just edged out Mallet even more for me today. IMO

Dude can do it all and the defenses don't even know whether to come at him or not, won't be as easy in the NFL but it would help out our O-line problems, and our run game. A lot like Vince young but needs to grow up some.

A very impressive game today.
I wouldn't be upset if he became a Cardinal.

VY would've crumbled under the pressure this kid has been forced to deal with... He's incredibly tough. He's a winner. He will at minimum do well in the NFL, and most likely will do very, very well...

The problem is that this team has two projects already and does not need a third at QB. We need someone who can contribute from day one. There are only two in the draft, Luck and Mallett. If you cannot get either of them, you have to find a way to get Kolb since there is not much else after that.

Wow I would have never guessed that the last Cardinal QB to beat the Patriots was Tom Tupa.

He was very impressive but it's hard to judge on 1 game, i know he's put up numbers all year but this was the best I've seen him throwing it. If we knew he could translate that game to the pros it would be a no-brainer. But I guess evry QB has that question mark about them to some extent.

Newton is a tremendous talent but he is a project. It could take several years for him to develop. The Cards can only afford to do that if they sign a free agent that can start and deliver for a couple of years. ( Perhaps Hasselbeck or Bulger.) But is Newton worth a top ten pick????

Newton will most definitely go top 10 after the bowl game. The more people see his game... this kid has been doing this all year, but now it looks like he is trying to make a point of passing more. Everybody labeled him a running, and it seems like he took it personal.

He can be a starter from day one and will only get better.
