The Iron Bowl of basketball has been a hit for both matchups between Alabama and Auburn during the regular season.
However, fans may wonder if the Crimson Tide and Tigers could have a third meeting during the 2025 men's NCAA Tournament. Auburn won the first matchup on Feb. 15 and Alabama won on a Mark Searsgame-winner on March 8.

No. 2 seed Alabama defeated No. 6 BYU 113-88 in the Sweet 16 and No. 1 overall seed Auburn has a chance to advance to the Elite Eight with a victory over No. 5 Michigan at 8:39 p.m. CT Friday from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
So, could there be a basketball Iron Bowl part three between the Crimson Tide and Tigers? Here's what you need to know:
Yes. With Alabama in the East Regional and Auburn in the South Regional, a winner-take-all for the season series is on the table. The question is when the teams would meet up if both keep winning.
The answer is actually the national championship game. On Saturday, Alabama takes on No. 1 Duke in the Elite Eight at 7:49 p.m.. If the Crimson Tide were to win, it would advance to the Final Four for the second straight year and the second time in program history. The Crimson Tide would play one of Houston and Purdue or Tennessee and Kentucky in the national semifinal and a win would clinch a spot in the championship game.
On the other hand, Auburn would play the winner of No. 1 Florida and No. 3 Texas Tech in the Final Four if it wins over Michigan and the winner of Ole Miss and Michigan State. From there, the Tigers would need to beat the Gators or Red Raiders to advance to the championship game.
In that scenario, an all-Alabama national championship would take place. The last time a championship game featured schools from the same state was in 1962, when Cincinnati and Ohio State faced off for a second straight year in the title game. The Bearcats and Buckeyes are the only in-state foes to face off in a national championship.
Regardless of what sport, a national championship between Alabama and Auburn would be the biggest matchup between the two programs.
