Mryeahbut---that was no little thing you noticed on the sideline. THAT was the result of the light bulb going on for this team when Coack Whiz cracked down on them on the flight home from the New England game from last year. He informed them that there WOULD be a practice the next day, and that they needed to bring their big-boy pads.

That was the point that ALL the players looked within themselves and apparently decided that this coach meant business about playing tough, smart, disciplined football. The result has been, (from that point on), that this team has played differently, AND practiced differently. From that point on we have out-rushed each of our opponents, we have had greatly reduced penalties, we have had the ball for equal to, (or more), time of possession than each of our opponents, AND we have OUTPLAYED every opponent, ---- (with the exception of 1 freak play just before that half-time buzzer of the Super Bowl game, which virtually caused a 14 point turnaround in the final score of that game.

What we saw in the ONE pre-season game appears to be a carry-over from the last five games of last year, and ALL those games, (including this first pre-season game) have been against the top ranked teams in the league at the time that game was played.

Until I see us playing differently, I believe that you can throw away ALL old stats that used to define the Cardinals, and forget about ALL old impressions that ANYONE has held about this team. These are not your DADDY'S old Cardinals anymore, and I believe that what we see in each of the preseason games, (provided they are analyzed in context), can be viewed as a prelude to this up-coming season.

Mmmmmmm....

I think you go into early preseason wanting to see how well the first (and perhaps even the second) unit plays together while trying to cherry pick newcomers who've caught your eye (with roster depth always a consideration in the back of your mind).

But, regarding the "crispness" factor, I've found over the years that sometimes teams whose offenses seem to be in midseason form in preseason look sloppy during the regular season. Go figure.

Still, I'd be less nervous seeing us look crisp than look sloppy early on.
