Do you have a CD burner? I have a copy of Asheron's call that I can let you burn - it's on-line & pretty cool.

Do you have to play online or is there a part of the game that you can play offline?

You have to play on-line. I take it you don't like on-line games then?

It is kind of a pain in the ass - this is the 1st on-line game I've tried & it's pretty cool.

Baldur's Gate is awesome. You can probably pick up a copy of it @ Games Plus - NW corner Alma School / University behind the KFC - they have some pretty good games there for about 50 % retail (they are used). I buy all of my games there.

I've always thought that Final Fantasy VII on PC is a terrific game--it's pretty much a direct port from the Playstation version, but it is pretty amazing. I have yet to see an RPG that is as good. And it was released back in like 1997 or something!

Knights of the Old Republic.

Every gaming magazine seems to be giving it game-of-the-year type honors. I'm not an RPG guy myself, but a friend of mine bought the game and he loves it.

You can find a game in the discount section called Arcanum that is quite different from other games.

You don't have a class like fighter or anything like that. Where you put your stats/skills/abilities determines your character. Very fluid.

It is also a steampunk type game which is cool.

I haven't played KOTOR yet, but if you're in a Dungeons & Dragons mood, go for Neverwinter Nights!

I'm playing it again right now, and I'm still hooked. The great thing is that you can play it like an old fashioned D & D game with a DM, modules, and other players on line for free.

I saw it at the Target by my house on the clearance rack for under $9 (still in the box).

$9? Thats something I wouldn't pass up but as it is now with work I get maybe an hour to play games a week, and I have a ton of them on the shelf that I never have time to play as it is.

If you are looking for a good RPG but still kind of hack and slash at the same time, then I think Diablo 2 is pretty good.

Still haven't bought FFX yet? It's now on the PS2 Greatest Hits, and it's much better than FFVII. Better graphics, story, music, gameplay. Only problem is that it's a little too linear.

FFX-2 isn't nearly as good as FFX...

I have FFX for PS2--but there are some issues:

1) I still like FFVII for all the little mini-things it has.

2) I hardly play my PS2 since I have so many Xbox games.

I haven't played FFX all that much, but it's a gorgeous game.

There are a few minigames, but mostly later on. The minigames are tough, especially the chocobo riding ones...

FFX-2 has a lot of minigames, so you might like it better. But I wouldn't recommend playing that one until you finish X.

X does take quite awhile to beat. I beat it after 100 hours of gameplay, but I'm sure it could be finished much faster than that. It's the perfect game to spread out over a few months.

I just beat FFX-2 and while it was a very good game, not quite on par with FFX (and the ending isn't nearly as good, either).

For Final Fantasies I was always partial to part VIII myself. I believe they have a PC port of that one available. If you haven't played part VII you should look into that one, too.

I'm on Chapter 5 with only the Blitzball tournament, the massive (and boring) 100 level dungeon, and the robot(s) in Djose temple left.

The characters aren't as interesting in this one IMO, and that was a driving force in the last one. I also missed one of the spheres to enter that one place near the Youth League headquarters...

Did you guys not like part VII?

I actually recently replayed it and enjoyed it more the second time around. But.....I lost the last disc! So I had to quit playing.

I'm going to buy it on EBay one of these days. I bought FFVIII a couple of months ago, and I own FFII (which was my favorite for a long time), FFIII, FFX, and FFIX.

I'm waiting to buy FF Crystal Chronicles for Gamecube and FFXI for PS2. Owning all three systems is cool.

Its not just the characters (although I do agree) IMO, FFX-2 also loses a lot due to the creators trying to fit several storylines into the game. They kept pulling in different directions and that took away from it.

With FFX it was just the one awesome storyline!

No. FFXI is. Not to be confused with FFX (Final Fantasy 10) or FFX-2 (Final Fantasy 10, part 2).

FFX-2 is different than the rest of the series because it is a true sequel. The online one, FFXI, is only available on computer right now, but will be available on PS2 in the spring.

I agree with the characters, the exception being Yuna. I really enjoyed the development they gave to her - her attitudes and motivations following a two year calm. Her narrations were rather heartfelt as well. Unfortunately, I never cared too much about Rikku or Paine as anything more than background voices (although their in battle banter is amusing).

Once you get to the end, the storylines will wrap themselves up nicely but they're nowhere near as satisfying (or heartbreaking) as they were in FFX. On the plus side, the soundtrack was good enough for me to pick up on CD

Have fun with the Bevelle dungeon. That one took me a few days to beat.

I'm on floor 80, and can't beat the boss there.

My problem, is that I have that accessory for the gunner that allows the gun thingy mabob to do 9999 damage each hit, but she is fully healed so it won't work. By the time I get her hurt enough to use it, the boss kills me quick.
