I have been very impressed with Edwards these last few games. He seems to find a spot in the zone and runs hard after the catch. Very good blockers as well. He does remind me a bit of Mark Bavaro, ie hard worker and good blocker. Good hands as well.

Hard to tell but he will be given the chance. Freddie Jones will be gone for sure. IMO we will draft a TE and sign a vet free agent. Dennie really likes to have one that is a strong blocker.

After how he played yesterday, I'm sure we'll being seeing more of him in the next couple of games.

I was impressed with him as well. It's nice to see a TE break tackles and run over people. I am sorry to say Freddy is a TE with a WR mentality.

Didn't notice his blocking.... anybody????

Funny you should phrase it that way because no one notices Freddies blocking either.

Mostly because he dosen't.

Being a LSU Tiger myself, I have watched Edwards play TE for the Tigers for the last two years and he is a "Gamer" IMHO.

You just saw the tip of the iceberg, regarding his play making abilities yesterday.

He was a great run blocking and pass catching TE for the Tigers and he can take it to the next level.

Edwards sure looked like a potential starter last Sunday.

Only concern - Can he block? It's hard to follow him on TV. The only thing I can otherwise go on would be the productivity of our running attack on sweeps which hasn't been very good.

This would mean we'd be trading off one receiving non-blocking TE for another more expensive one (Not a bad idea, but not exactly what you're looking for out of the position).

I like what FJ brings to the receiving mix. But maybe more as a #3 or #4 "big" wide receiver than as a TE. But can we afford to pay him Pro Bowl TE dollars for #3 or #4 wideout responsibility?

Final thought - One of Bill Belicheck's great qualities is his willingness to create hybrid positions in order to get the most out of some of his tweener players (Example - Teddy Bruschi). By thinking out of the box with regard to FJ, perhaps Dennis can do something parallel with Freddie
