It's sort of a push --- pull type thing with me , you want to know , but you don't want your Franchise QB to go down just to find out . Looking back through time guys like Brady ---Favre --- Stabler got thrown into the fire when the starter got injured . I don't believe that you can get a true evaluation from practice , or from preseason games where a QB is running a vanilla offence against a vanilla defense . Right now I just want a healthy CP , because I believe with him we have a legit shot to win it all .
I will take the Scarlet O'hara view , I won't think about Barkley now , I'll think about him tomorrow , there is always tomorrow , after all tomorrow is another day .

You sort of wish for blowout games, and that NFL teams would run their reserve QB's out there in those situations.

Blowouts in the Cards favor of course.

Hey !! That would work for me !!!

It took Palmer almost a year to get comfortable with Arians system. So, I don't think its reasonable to even try to evaluate MB right now. Certainly Arians and Keim will have a feel for it. My guess he is the anti-Thomas. Thomas had the athleticism, but not the mental game or the refined technique. Barkley has the mental game, and very refined technique but may have some athletic deficiencies.

Who knows how Barkley will do. Look at Russell Wilson. Did anyone think he would do anything until he did it. Barkley is the guy I wanted us to take in the fourth round. Half of a successful QB is smarts and he is supposed to be a very smart guy. I would compare him to Teddy Bridgewater. Average arm and size but very smart and accurate.

Yes, I did think Wilson was going to be a stud and he had a better completion ratio than Luck or RGIII coming out of college... and again, Barklley has the tools and mind to be at the very least a backup and that is something Logan Thomas never had :)

Third string QB is always inactive, but always dressed. If your first and second string QBs are injured they become active for the game. Here is the rule;

Teams will be permitted an Active List of 45 players and an Inactive List of eight players for each regular-season and postseason game. Provided, that if a club has two quarterbacks on its 45-player Active List, a third quarterback from its Inactive List is permitted to dress for the game, but if he enters the game during the first three quarters, the other two quarterbacks are thereafter prohibited from playing.[3]

I believe they changed that rule 2 years ago. They no longer have the 3rd qb emergency rule. That is why a lot of teams only go with 2 qbs now.

Sadly, I don't think Barkley's good enough for the NFL. He hasn't looked good most of the times he's been on the field whether in preseason or regular season. Granted, it's been a very brief career but my own version of the eyeball test tells me that he doesn't process the game well enough to make it. His arm strength has been very lacking at times too.

Apparently Arians/Kiem think something of him but he seems like he's where he's supposed to be. 3rd string. Couldn't beat out Tebow and Kelly gave up on him. Doesn't bode well.

He's listed at 6'3" but he seems shorter than that to me by the way.

Why do people say that he couldn't beat out Tebow? Barkley is on a roster and Tebow is not. Neither one survived the Eagles final cut. Philadelphia, like many teams decided to go with two QB's. What am I missing?

At combine was listed 6'2 4/8 (6'3) so height is not a weakness

But my hope are to select from Next year draft jared goff
This guy has all the tools to be succesfull
Arm Strenght, accuracy, presence in the pocket and he has an amazing footwork

Cards inside track? He is privately trained by Jordan Palmer and will be during the combines much like Blake Bortles was 2 years ago and Sean Mannion last year.

You assume that Goff is going to declare early?

But why? Lots of judgment, not much explanation.

Bump.

If Barkley, who I think is in W.Virginia with the team, is on the roster for this weekends match-up against Pitt, we officially lose our 7th round pick.

Haven't heard any word as to how he has looked during his time here.

Which makes it one big 'big whoop'. I'm not sure but most likely we're going to pick up an additional pick for losing Dan Williams so losing a 7th isn't going to hurt that much.
