What you keep showing me is that you're prepared to accept the possibility of improvement from everyone on the team except McCown. I find that evidence of being biased and rather bold... not to say - foolish.

Drew Brees, for example - was 10 W.-17 L going into last season, with an under 60% completion rate and.more Ints than TDs.

I can't recall that there was much demand on this board for bringing him in.

Now... a year later... everyone's a fan.

I expect that in the next few weeks the CARDS will invest over a 1-million in their belief, which I share - that McCown can improve.

I guess we'll have to see who the re-tread is first. Who knows, McCown will have several more months of study time; it all depends on whether or not he has as many deer-in-the-headlights moments.

Simple economics would dictate that - a just over 1 million tender to MCown, when the team has the cap room- is a good insurance policy.

Things have changed on Hardy for sure but we all know the Bidwill's like to save a buck. In fact many teams would. Why spend a million plus when you can get the same production for 300-500k (ie a guy standing on the sidelines holding a clipboard)? Remember I said that this could happen if Navarre's play is considered by the Cards to be the same or better than McCown.

The real possibility of an improved o-line... an improved running game... a better run defense... Boldin from day one... talented players from last year's draft with additional experience... this year's FAs and draftees....

All of this goes for naught, if McCown is at the helm.

In essence, his argument (Stout) was that McCown at the helm would be the difference between making the playoffs or not.

Given the improvements from last year, and those easily envisaged (Improved O-line... D-line... running game... intangibles, such as - experience) I think that McCown can be part of a playoff season.

The likelihood of him improving is no more or less than any other player on the roster.
