Can we trade down and still get Levi Brown? IMO yes we can.

There is no doubt what so ever we are not going to trade up. Not with only 6 draft picks. I also think it is highly doubtful we trade down, unless we are 1998 trade blown away. We are going to sit tight and take our chance on our choice of the best D players in the draft with the top 4 picks being used on O players we will get that chance.

I also doubt they reach for Brown. I really think the coaches think Ross can be our LT. That can change once the April Mini camp is over but as of right now, I doubt Brown will be in a Cards uniform next year.

Draft musings

There is always speculation about teams trading up or down in the draft, but I don't expect the Cardinals to move out of the No. 5 slot.

I'd be shocked to see them trade up. They have only six picks in this draft -they sent their sixth rounder to the Patriots for Brandon Gorin -- and would be foolish to give up draft picks to move up. They can sit tight at No. 5 and get a good player.

There might be some opportunities to move down, but I don't expect it. My guess is the Cardinals will do what they've done the last few years: sit tight.

If Russell drops past OAK I find it hard to believe that he wont get passed the Lions or atleast someone will trade up.

Oak-Johnson
Det-Russell
Cle-Peterson or Quinn
TB-Okoye, Adams or Thomas
AZ-Thomas, Peterson, Adams

I truly feel Thomas will drop to us. If not that I see those will be our choices along with Landry as an option.

I'd rather take the rumored PIT trade and get Starks then pick Staley at #15 and then get Beason with our pick in the second and then a PR/KR with the PIT 2nd we get....

Man, I'd be ALL over that, but I'd go with Posluzny (sp?) at LB and a TE (Zack Miller, if he's available).

We'd get Starks and Staley, a LB and a TE, all in 2 rounds. Dig it!

As a matter of fact ESPN has us taking Peterson and at number nine

Miami (6-10)
Projected pick: Levi Brown, OT, Penn State
Needs: OT, QB, DT, S
The Dolphins need help at offensive tackle and Brown is the only upper-echelon prospect at the position after Thomas

I know it's more than just a couple of spots and that Thomas if he is there would possably be great see (Davis). Most so called experts and I'm not one of them pick Brown between the 8 hole and the 10. If we pick number 5 it's only a few spots down. I 've got to be perfectly honest what I know of Brown and Thomas is what I have read.

I just happen to think there size is pretty close to even. There the same age , will have the same learning curve. Brown it says has a bad tendancy of jumping befoire the ball is snaped. That is the biggest argumenmt against him. They both seam to have great punishing punches. If we can pick up Brown and a LB for someone to move up if Thomas isn't there I say go for it.

These are just my opinions no need to egt snippy.

My gut instinct is that the Cardinals will stay put and will draft the BPA, regardless of need.

I think that Whiz and Grimm truly believe that Oliver Ross can do the job at LT...although I also think that they would like Mike Gandy around for insurance in case whatever rookie they sign would not be ready to start.

Day 2 of the draft will be interesting because I bet you that the Cardinals have some real sleepers in mind...such as T Renaldo Foster of Louisville, ILB Anthony Waters of Clemson and TE Matt Herian of Nebraska...all players whose stock has dropped because of injury red flags...but all three of these guys are first day picks otherwise.

There's a difference between rating prospects and predicting where they'll go in a mock draft. Calvin Johnson is just about the consensus #1 prospect in this draft, but it's generally assumed that Jamarcus Russell or Brady Quinn are going to go first. Calvin Johnson may not even go in the Top 3. Joe Thomas is ranked among the Top 3 on most talent boards, but may not go until 5.

Team needs will dictate some when draft day rolls around, but I don't think there's any doubt among any but people who have ulterior motives (like trading down) that Thomas is a much better prospect than Brown is.

Bullhead, I liked that tape from the PSU-Michigan game, but I didn't see Brown doing much. I know that it was a defensive highlights package, but I think he only blew a blocking assignment or maybe two. Michigan's defense called a great game against an overmatched Penn State unit.

What "experts" are you talking about? TheHuddleReport.com has Thomas ranked 3rd in the draft, Brown 10th (which I think is a stretch). ESPN.com Scouts, Inc. has Thomas 2nd and Brown 11th. On his Big Board, Mel Kiper has Thomas #2 and Brown down at 10. If Thomas is available at #5 (which I really don't think is going to happen anyway), and the Cards pass on him to save money, I'm going to go out and buy a Wii so that I can throw the Wiimote through my TV screen.

5/5.

Thats awesome
