Canada head coach Jesse Marsch took direct aim at Donald Trump and the current state of discourse in the US in comments to media on Wednesday. “If I have one message to our president, it’s lay off the ridiculous rhetoric about Canada being the 51st state,” said Marsch, who grew up in Wisconsin and enjoyed a 13-year career in Major League Soccer before moving into coaching. Marsch was addressing the media in Los Angeles, where he appeared with other representatives of the four nations participating in the Concacaf Nations League finals, set to be hosted at SoFi Stadium at the end of next month.
