According to 1060 am the Canidates are:

Al Pedrique (who is just getting a token interview IMO)
Mark Grace
Wally Backman
Bob Melvin
Jamie Quirk (old KC Royals player)

Pretty weak company outside of Wally Backman

Wally Backman. Has shown he has game management and personnel management skills, his players absolutely love him although he puts up with no nonsense, and he's aggressive and hardnosed. His teams improved in fundamentals as well as winning. Melvin is too placid. Besides, that's just like bringing back Colbrunn or Fetters - another tired old sentimental retread - Which is why they'll probably pick him, and which is a very bad indicator about future team direction.

What does anyone know about Quirk? I vaguely recall hearing something extremely positive about him a few months back, but don't recall what it was.

Backman. If we hire Melvin or Grace, I'm goign to go through the roof. Grace is a clown and Melvin would be like when the Cards hired McGinnis. The Brenly-Colangelo-Joe Jr. era is over, let's move on.
