One item we have not talked about much is the possibility of a lop-sided trade due to our cap space. Are there any players out there that a team might be willing to move, that would be a help to us?

Paul Pierce. Some have said that Ainge wants to move him. JJ, plus a pick, plus cap space might be appealing to the Celts. I don't know if Pierce is a fit here, but maybe.

Vince Carter. Same type of scenario.

Can't think of any centers outside of Shaq (which we are not doing).

We also could help facilitate another trade. That is how we moved Longley. If we could get a pick and a player with an expiring deal for Longley, we can clean up in a similar trade.

For instance, could we help facilitate a Dallas trade with the Lakers (Shaq) in which we pick up a Laker's pick and maybe a player or two?

Pierce is not coming in any such deal.

As a rule, stealing guys on these deals usually involves role players and great prospects rather than established stars. The Spurs acquisition of Turkoglu was a classic example.

Sometimes teams want to include quality players that they don't think they can resign. Either the player doesn't like where he is or the team does not have the Bird rights.

Another option is a "holding pattern" player who has only one year left on his contract, but the team needs the space now. This is a last resort. The only guy I like in this category is Dale Davis, but not for the entire $9 million.

Don't we have a trade exception for the amount of Jahidi's contract because he was selected in the expansion draft. How could we use it?

I don't think we have a trade exception just his money came off the cap when he was picked.

Actually we have a trade exeption until July 1st. In theory the Suns could sign Dice and Keon to big contracts and stay over the cap. I wouldn't worry about that.
