Cardinals sign veteran wide receiver Quez Watkins to contract for 2025

From what I read he has 4.3 speed, after spending his first 4 years with the Eagles, he then spent a year on the Steelers PS.

If we was signing 2021 Quez Watkins then great, but I suspect there is something wrong there.

Declined every year since. Couldn't even get off the Steelers practice squad when they had a bunch of injuries ahead of whoever Brandon Johnson is, Ben Skowronek and Scott Miller.

I don't know if it's an injury thing or attitude, but don't put much hope in this one.

Quez Watkins is an interesting signing. Runs a 4.3 40 at 6'0", was WR #2 in 2021 in Philly with numbers that would have ranked #2 for WRs on the Cardinals this year. Didn't have nearly as much of a role once they traded for AJ Brown in 2022, but put up #3 type of numbers. Was hurt got most 2023 and it apparently lingered for most of this past season. He also has played special teams. Could be the new #4 since he is an upgrade over Pascal. Hopefully we sign a #2, move Wilson to #3 and see what Watkins brings from a speed stand point. Gannon was there during his best season and he's oboe 26.

Part of his decline was the Eagles trading for AJ Brown in 2022. He still got the 3rd most WR targets. I read that his hamstring injury from 2023, lingered this past season and that was why he couldn't get off the PS. He is a speed guy and hamstrings are finicky once they start to have issues. If he is over his issues by next season, he is a low risk, high reward guy. If not, no big deal since these futures contracts are not guaranteed and are super cheap.

Sometimes change of scenery is what a guy like this needs to re-ignite his career. As others have said, very low cost with a potential for high output.
