Cardinals Annual Holiday Food Drive
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Thursday, October 30, 2003

Tempe, Arizona — The Arizona Cardinals and the
Salvation Army once again will join forces for a
holiday food drive prior to Sunday’s 2:05 p.m.
Cardinals-Cincinnati Bengals game at Sun Devil Stadium.

Wives/girlfriends of players—Elizabeth (Damien)
Anderson, Theresa (Steve) Bush, Jacinta (Levar) Fisher,
Sarah (Frank) Garcia, Tamara (Jason) Goss, Stephanie
(James) Hodgins, Natalie (Josh) McCown, Renee (Coby)
Rhinehart, Casey (Fred) Wakefield, Alicia (Adrian)
Wilson, and Nicole (Tony Wragge) Pettenuzzo—and
coaches—Marianne (Pete) Hoener, Linda (Larry) Marmie,
Sandra (Ron) Milus, Connie (Jerry) Sullivan, and Linda
(Tyke) Tolbert—will team with Salvation Army personnel
at collection points outside all stadium entrances.

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items
and/or money for donation.

According to Salvation Army Captain Hendrik Sumter, “We
have a shortage in our food pantry. We’re hoping to be
able to replenish it with this food drive. In
partnership with the Arizona Cardinals, we will be able
to provide 300 food boxes for households and 200 boxes
to homeless individuals for the Thanksgiving holiday.”

Less than 22,000 people will attend. I'll bring food and cash.

I'm in. Last year, all they had at the collection point was a box to put the food in. They didn't have provisions for donating cash. Will it be different this year?

I hope it's more organized than the last 2 seasons (post 9/11). My wife and I have had security guys practically trip over themselves running at us to tell us that we can't bring whatever's in the bags into the stadium. Then they back off a bit when they find out it's canned food for donation. It really depends on who you approach, some of the people working security didn't even know there was a donation going on...and this was at the Southeast entrance last season... :(

Well, see here is the perfect opportunity for the local media to support the team and you will more than likely not hear anything about this from the sportscasters.....totally crappy coverage.....as for security at the games, isn't that provided by ASU???

We've had probs over the years with the food drive with that top notch security they have at SDS!!! (this is in the North entrance)

At the north end, if they have anyone out to collect money, they are always outside the gates with the collection box inside
We usually say.."FOOD DRIVE" and they let us pass but "follow" us till the bag gets inside the box.

Last year at the Raiders game. my wife and sil went to the game. My sil was 6 mo prego and that "Top Notch Security Team" made her lift her shirt because they thought she was concealing something!!!:bang: then harrassed both of them for bringing in a sealed frozen water bottle. The wife had to get there head person to teach them what is allowed in etc... and this was the southwest entrance.

I have been known to smuggled in a beer or two in ( no trade secrets here my friends!!!:D .)
Thats why we have such a TOP NOTCH SECURITY TEAM in place there!!!!! They are more worried with my wifes 2"x6" purse!!!!

It's sad. Last year I think they collected like 1,000 cans and don't know the $$$. Most of the cans came from us lol. Mil just passed away and the wife and sil cleaned out her cabinet and had like 6 bags of stuff!!...

If just all the season ticket holders bought one can of something!!! WOW!!!! (btw we have 6 items for the 2 of us!!)
