What a waste Bryant turned out to be... Good Riddance!
Along the lines of what Jeff Gollin was refering to, Bryant saw an opportunity to take the NFL (specifically the Cardinals) for major bucks without having to put out much effort. He had talent; but he chose to not really put it to use in the NFL. He can thank the Bidwill's for the seed money he recieved for his chosen profession; which certainly wasn't football.
Cases such as Bryant make me think that something ought to be done with the next CBA with the players union about the guaranteed money that high draft picks are getting, while veterans get squeezed out.
PS. - Regarding the timing of Bryant's release - if think that it possibly was related to the finalizing of both the rookie contracts and Boldin's extention, i.e. - Cardinal's had better knowledge of how much room was left on the cap to make the move.
