Since when are we allowed to swear on the board;)

I guess my point was Green was answering a direct question if he tries to be coy about it there'd be a thread here with people accusing him of ducking questions. So he answered it honestly and now he's throwing Warner and or Step under the bus. He can't please everyone and if you know anything about Green, he doesn't try to, never has, never will.

On the Rackers thing I seem to recall either reading it here or hearing on radio that after the miss right before the half that Green was scowling at Rackers? Maybe there was some sort of disagreement going on that we don't know about that explains why he blew him off on the first kick?

A couple of points I noticed from this past weekend that I think are appropriate here:
First, after Rackers missed 51 or 54 yd field goal where it hit the crossbar, he is running off the field. He runs directly by Dennis Green, who, as usual, shows absolutely no emotion what so ever, in fact just seems to totally blatently ignore Rackers as if he didn't exist. Now I'm willing to bet, that Rackers probably wasn't exactly overjoyed with what happened, but he's been a gem and that miss was certainly not just a "blow of a gimme". To me a good coach, under the circumstances there, would have at least, somewhat, somehow, offered SOME kind of encouragment, even if it was just a little facial expressionn of acknowldegement. If I'm a player for a coach like that, that sure doesn't endure him in my heart or win my respect for him. No wonder Green so often seems to end up "losing his team".

Next, late in the game, when Kurt comes off the field, hot under the collar and is giving Kruczek an earful. Kruczek responds by simply kind of shaking his head and saying: "I know, I know", at least a couple of times, (I read lips, but didn't catch exactly what it was Kurt was saying), before turning and walking away.

Now...to Monday night. The last timeout, with just a couple of minutes or so left in the game. Cowher has James Farrior on the sideline and is emphatically up in his face saying: "NO ********, NO ********. YOU GOT THAT. NO ******** NOW".
To me, I interpret that as Cowher is saying this to Farrior because Farrior is, I believe, the defensive play caller/captain/leader on the team, an Cowher is making sure that when Farrior goes back out onto the field he relays that to the rest of the team, so they don't melt down, as can be so easy to do under the circumstances where the game appears to be over. Cowher is making sure they stay disciplined and don't lose their "class", even under such a devastating loss.
How different that is from what we DON'T SEE from Dennis Green.

The thing about it is... Tony Dungy does the exact same thing Dennis Green does, but his team wins so no one is questioning his coaching skills. I keep bringing it up, but I really doubt many people were complaining about his coaching when his team was 15-1 and in the NFC championship game. Point being that if it has worked for you before why would you change now?

Along those same lines, I doubt very seriously that Neil Rackers needed a little smile from his coach for him to kick better. He has stated numerous times that Neil is the best kicker in the game and I just can't see why people dwell on things like coaches reactions on the sidelines. To me it has no bearing on the game.

Of course Dungy's lack of emotion on the sideline actually was the most common reason for why it took him so long to get an NFL HC job. He was on the "next great coach" list for several years but couldn't get a job and we kept being told he didn't interview well. People were saying it was because of the color of his skin but after he finally got a job we were told it was because he was so bland people were afraid he wouldn't be able to motivate players. Dungy got his job the same way Green got his, walsh helped denny get his first NFL HC job, and Green helped Dungy get his.

But of course you're right when a team wins nobody complains about this stuff.

Maybe we should try winning. :)

Oh come on now. Of course Rackers doesn't NEED a smile from Dennis Green to motivate him. He is as professional as anyone. Are you going to tell me you didn't comprehend my point in regard to when you do have some one encouraging you, it does help? no matter who you are?

And that its only human nature for people to more easily self motivate when someone, especially their coach, encourages them rather than treat them as if they don't exist?

Actually I understood your point very well. I just frankly don't think it is a good one.

Denny has never been the rah rah type in public. Who really knows what he does in the locker room or on the practice field as practice is closed to the media.

Point being that it never stopped him from being successful in the past and it doesn't seem to affect guys like Dungy or Lovie Smith who is not a real emotional guy on the sidelines.

Players always comment on how Denny is a player's coach, so why would Neil Rackers expect or should I say you expect Denny to be any different based on his previous relationships with players?
