K9, did you miscount or do you not think the Cards will draft a QB?

I say 12 QB's will be drafted (just for the sake of wagering).

Wager?

I can't believe that I'm going to waste time responding to this...

Rams - Sam Bradford. That's one.
Browns - They'll probably take Colt McCoy. That's two.
Raiders - I think it's 50/50 they take a top QB, but I'll give it to you. That's three.
Bills - They'll take Tebow if they can go up and get him, but I don't think they'll move for any of the lesser prospects, because they're no better than Edwards. That's the four top guys.
Broncos - Drafted Bradstater last season and still have Orton and now Quinn. There's no way they're drafting a QB; they don't have room on the roster.
Jaguars - Invested a ton of money in David Garrard, and those guys are still in positions of power. Their #2 is Luke McCown. They will likely take a run at one of the mid-round guys. That's' five.
49ers - Huh? They just drafted Nate Davis, they have Alex Smith, and they just signed David Carr. Again, there's no room on the roster.
Seahawks - They just gave $10 million to Charlie Whitehurst and drafted Mike Teel in the 5th round last year. No chance.
Giants - They gave $100 million to Eli, just traded for Jim Sorgi, and drafte Rhett Bomar in the 5th last season. Honestly, Mitch. You could have found these things out for yourself.
Titans - Vince Young is in place, and behind him they have Chris Simms and Kerry Collins. There's some possibility they'll draft a quarterback. That's six.
Steelers - They have Ben Roethlisberger and just re-signed Chaz Batch. They also really, really like 2008 5th-round pick Dennis Dixon. So there's no chance there, either
Patriots - Tom Brady's in place. They've been developing Brian Hoyer for the last two years, and he completed 70% of his passes in limited playing time last year. It's unlikely they'll go with another rookie; they're more likely to look for a veteran #3 like Brian St. Pierre.
Eagles - Definitely potential for a mid- to late-round guy here. That's seven.
Ravens - Got John Beck from the Dolphins last season. Even if Troy Smith leaves, they're not going to carry 4 QBs on the roster this season.
Cardinals - There's some chance they'll take a late-round prospect, but they have two players with starting experience, and at least one of them are going to be on the roster next year. That's eight.
Cowboys - have Romo in place and drafted Stephen McGee in the 4th round last year. No chance.
Chargers - There's some chance of a late-round player after they let Whitehurst leave. That's nine.
Vikings - LOL. They traded for Sage Rosenfels and still have Tavaris Jackson on the roster. If they wanted a developmental guy, they would have kept John David Booty.
Colts - Drafted Painter with a 6th round pick last season. If they need competition for Drew Willy, they'll bring in another undrafted guy.
Saints - Picked up UDFA Chase Daniel last year. They won't invest another draft pick at the position.
Panthers - They have three picks in the first four rounds, and five picks in the last two. They'll maybe use one pick on a developmental guy, but not until 175th overall. That's ten.

So you're looking at ten quarterbacks, maximum being drafted. So 10 quarterbacks, eleven prospects not counting Kafka and Brown. Want to make a bet about how many quarterbacks get drafted?

K9...great effort...really...kudos...

Wanna bet on an over/under for a Cardinals' hat or t-shirt from the Cardinals' Pro Shop?

I say OVER 10!

Are we on?

I'll bet you a bottle of wine/six pack of beer that fewer than 12 QBs will be drafted. On?

OVER 10? So the over/under is 10.5? I'll take that bet, as well.

Mitch, I have two problems with your draft, even though I thought your post, with so much useful info, was great. One I think that the second round is too early to draft a WR (although I know we need one, even with Onrea Jones on the roster), since we have so many defensive needs. And Curren, about the size of Pat Tillman, is too small for LB in the NFL. Sounds like a SS/ST player. Chaney is a couple of inches taller and about 20 lbs. heavier. If we go BPA in the first two rounds, and hopefully we will, I could see an OLB or a CB, before other positions.

CB is absolutely a PON. In that reguard they droped the ball on that one. He also missed OT.

It's:

1-ILB
2-CB
3-NT
4-OT
5-OLB
6-WR

BPA for where we pick may very well be an OLB, CB or OT.

That's just not true, and I'll tell you why: the Cards have at least two--and probably three--starting-quality cornerbacks in DRC, McFadden, and Toler. You might not like McFadden, but that doesn't change the fact that he's on the roster and is going to play in red in 2010.

What we don't have--at all--is a starting NT. We at least have a body tp play WILBin Lenon. We don't have a guy to take Robinson's reps at NT.

That'll be addressed (NT)in the draft. It's just not 1st round addressed. Meanwhile Watson is a capable rotation guy.

CB will be addressed too. McFadden being here only one more yr. assures that. They probably don't want to have to go the DRC route and burn another 1st next yr. on one. Toler has potential. More will be revealed reguarding him this season. That potential however isn't enough to justify not taking one this yr. How soon is the question. Depends on availablility I guess.

FWIW, Casserly was on NFLN last night and mentioned Kafka as his sleeper and going in late round 3 or round 4. It's juts one guy's opinion but who knows. He was also down-grading McClain and thought Sean Lee may be a better prospect.

I'm not saying that CB isn't a need--if it were up to me, the Cards would draft a DB every year. But I'm disagreeing that it's the #2 need that the Cards have. Their primary need is NT--they don't have the two on the roster that they need. Their secondary need is WILB--Paris Lenon is a chump. Their third need is a punt returner, and this could be a cornerback.

I have CB alongside SILB (to replace Hayes) as a fourth or fifth-highest priority.

This of course raises the question about Reggie Walker. Does he have any potential as the eventual replacement for Hayes?
