Do the Cards have a fight song? I was watching something on NFL films and fans were singing their teams fight songs which got me to thinking if the Cards had one. If someone knows i would love to see what it is.

LET'S CHEER THEM ON THEIR WAY
LET'S SHOUT OUT WITH ALL OUR MIGHT
WE'LL SHOW 'EM HOW A TEAM CAN FIGHT
FOR VICTORY AND GLORY
WILL MAKE OUR JOY SUPREME

I know I've told this story at least a couple of times on this board, but it's worth repeating...

Back in the '60s the owner of the Cowboys - Clint Murchison I believe - discovered the concept of royalties for musical performances. So, Mr. Murchison bought the rights to Hail to the Redskins. I don't believe this is true anymore, but for years and years, the Cowboys were getting paid everytime the Redskins played that song. Gotta hand it to the 'Boys...that was brilliant.

In fact, when I was in the Cowboys Band in 1988, we had Hail to the Redskins in our book...even recorded it. Didn't need permission, since the Cowboys owned it...

Side note: a sad thing happened this weekend with the passing of Crazy Ray...he was a bit of a nut, but he sure was passionate about his team...we in the Cowboys Band always had to endure Ray's "conducting" of the Band at least once a game...his arms flailing about, completely devoid of any sembalence of rhythm...

I'd be more inclined to upgrade the music to something like:

"We've Got the Funk" (George Clinton)

"Now's the Time" (Charley Parker)

"Punk 49" (Joe Walsh)

Or something.

I second that.

Talk about the best song to start a party up. Imagine singing something to that tune after every TD.

Awesome!

(softly singing) "Tear the roof of this mother, tear the roof of this mother...."

Remember the time period in which this happened (1988), but during a particularly rotten performance by the Cowboys (vs. the Oilers), I was able to convince the director of the Band to have us play Janet Jackson's Nasty.

Got a laugh from the crowd at Texas Stadium - at least, the ones who were still there...

Wow, that's too bad. I grew up in Dallas, and some of my fondest memories are of Ray prowling the stands with that faucet sticking out of his hat. You sure couldn't miss him.

As to songs, I'd sure like to see someone write a better song. It doesn't even need to be a "fight song" so much as a team anthem.

Ring of fire - Johnny Cash

A verse goes something like this:

I fell in to a burning ring of fire
I went down,down,down
and the flames went higher.
And it burns,burns,burns
the ring of fire.
The ring of fire.

Just put we instead of I and I think this pretty much sums up how our fight song goes.

I always felt that Billy Strayhorn's Lush Life most accurately summed up my experience as a Cardinals fan:

I used to visit all the very gay places
Those come what may places
Where one relaxes on the axis of the wheel of life
To get the feel of life...
From jazz and cocktails.

The girls I knew had sad and sullen gray faces
With distingue traces
That used to be there, you could see where they'd been washed away
By too many thru the day...
Twelve o'clock tales.

Then you came along with your siren song
To tempt me to madness,
I thought for a while that your poignant smile was tinged with the sadness
Of a great love for me.

Ah! yes, I was wrong...
Again, I was wrong.

Life is lonely again,
And only last year everything seemed so sure.
Now life is awful again,
A troughful of hearts could only be a bore.
A week in Paris will ease the bite of it,
All I care is to smile in spite of it.

I'll forget you, I will
While yet you are still
Burning inside my brain.
Romance is mush,
Stifling those who strive.
I'll live a Lush Life in some small dive...
And there I'll be, while I rot with the rest
Of those whose lives are lonely, too.

:D

More like "Heartbreaker" by Pat Benatar.

I always thought instead of playing The Who song during the opposing teams announcements, they should play Loser by Three Doors Down.. see if we can't depress the other team a bit.

Well originally they were going to use Queen's "We are the Champions", but something happened to the concept along the way...

The Cards fight song is just begging for a rock -n- roll remake. I'll lay down the bass track...

What would be awesome (and a bit frightening to our opponents) might be something out of ELP's Tarkus or Karn Evil.

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends..."
