Cardinals | Foote wants to sign with team
Thu, 11 Mar 2010 12:12:00 -0800

Kent Somers, of the Arizona Republic, reports unrestricted free-agent LB Larry Foote (Lions) said he wants to sign with the Arizona Cardinals. "I want to be a Cardinal and hopefully we can get it done. First of all, they're winning. I know [head coach Ken Whisenhunt]. I know his pedigree, what type of coach he is, the talent they have here. They have a good chance of going back to the Super Bowl," Foote said. The Cardinals have not made an offer to Foote at this point.

Rod Graves' MO is usually to let them make a few more visits. We'll see.
I have not bashed graves in a couple of years, but if he does that to players who fit our system AND want to be hear and that we need; i will bash away. (on this only).

Yeah no reason to not make an offer at least. If you make an offer then they want to go on other visits then fine, but when everyone on both sides wants the deal to happen there is no reason to wait.

This is a piss poor business tactic IMO, which is why I am often critical of him. He has little to no sense of urgency. You have Foote that's sitting there saying he wants to be a Cardinal and Porter saying that this is the right fit for him. What other hints do you need?

Reality of it all is, that sometimes offers are worked on and offered behind the scenes without the public and without the media's knowledge. I for one didn't hear anything about the Rhodes trade before it happened. So for now, I'm just going to grab myself another scotch and soda, and just sit back, relax and be patient.

I've been curious about getting into some Scotch (never even tried it). What do you recommend I start with? And I ain't spending $50 on a bottle to try it.

By 'soda' you just mean club soda, right? Kind of like a Scotch and water, but with the cabonation, right?

Sorry, everyone....

I am reminded of when Andre Dawson was begging the Cubs to sign him. Finally he gave them a contract with the salary left blank and told them to fill it in for what ever they wanted. Typical Cub fashion in those days they did nothing for a while until the fans went almost crazy. Andre went on to hit over 40 HR and drive in over a 100 runs and as I recall become an MVP. His years with the Cubs were super. One of the reasons he wanted to play for the Cubs was the grass and the day games. He had bad knees from playing on astro turf in Montreal and some thought he was washed up. He was better than ever. Sometimes GM's just do not get it.

Let us just hope our GM does not sat on his behind to long. What we do not know is how much money the Bidwills have given Mr. Graves to work with.

Start with Glenlivet 12. I even prefer it over more expensive scotches.

Love the Hawk analogy :D

But yea, I think this is a make-or-break situation for Graves. If they both sign, he's a hero and will be vindicated. If only one of them signs, well, the argument can be made that he tried. If none of them sign, Graves will be quartered at midfield in UofP.

Club Soda, yes.
Chivas Regal is a good starter scotch.

Back in the day, I was the advertising brand guy for Dewar's "White Label Scotch and later on the national product mgr for Passport Scotch.

Since all the merger activity in that industry, I don't even know if Passport (which was less costly than Dewar's) is still marketed. But from a quality standpoint, they were both good.

And, yeah, soda stands for club soda - or bubbly water.

So from a taste standpoint, you'll be getting a carbonated whisky mixed drink with a slightly smoky overtone.

I haven't tried Passport but I would give a  to Dewars also.
