You can't go wrong with Johnny Walker Black....Red Label is good to though.

Chivas Regal is pretty smooth, but my favorite everyday scotch is just simply an $18 bottle of Justerini & Brooks Rare. Afterall, it was Dean Martin's favorite scotch, "Just Booze" as he'd call it. Has to be pretty good eh :p

Wow...didn't mean for this thread to get hijacked. I need another drink :D

I'll pour one for Larry Foote as well.

When in doubt... go Canadian. ;)

If you're talking Canadian Club, that's actually a Bourbon, isn't it?

Johnny Walker, Glenlivet, Chivas that were all mentioned are solid scotches.
I prefer a Lagavulin, Laphroaig or Talisker with that chewy smoky peat flavour. Not for everyone though and can be pricey.
The Original Bushmills (Irish whisky) is good. Lots of peeps like Glenfiddich, but it doesn't do it for me.

Okay, getting back in my box now.

Sidebar:

I've been curious about getting into some Scotch (never even tried it). What do you recommend I start with? And I ain't spending $50 on a bottle to try it.

By 'soda' you just mean club soda, right? Kind of like a Scotch and water, but with the cabonation, right?

Sorry, everyone....

Scotch is an acquired taste (that means some people hate their first drink)....but the smoothness and power of a single malt is the way to go.

I would recommend McClelland's single malt which is the most economical single malt goin at a bout $25 a bottle.

Taken from their label:

Whiskey is the heart of the Scottish Highlands. It's very name means water of life. This Highland Malt has a rounded and firm fruity character with just a hint of peat.

Only on this forum could a thread about 2 LBs wanting to sign here turn into a discussion about liquor.

I can quickly switch the topic to benzodiazepines if you want :D

if the articles are correct and we brought both guys in but haven't even made offers yet, I really don't understand how this team does business. You have glaring holes, you have personel that fit those glaring holes with a coach who knows them intimately. why not be ready to at least offer them a contract if they're brought in, regardless of what that contract is?

eh, why do I ask questions with how this team does business. they've done a good job putting together back to back playoff teams, but i'll never understand how they do it or go about doing it.

Johnny Walker Blue is the best since it's aged about 30 years......but at about
$100 a bottle it's a tad pricey....had a drunk friend of mind bubble it one time to the chagrin of the owner.

Some Scotch can go as high as $10,000 a bottle.

OK, so I was at Bashas tonight and I took a look around the liquor section. Didn't buy anything, but a store display reminded me that next Wed is St. Patty's day. I don't mean remind as in I forgot because St. Patty's day could possibly be my favorite holiday (half Mex, half Ire-Scot-Ital-Ger). So, I'm thinking next Wed will be my break in day - I KNOW you all are SOOOO thrilled with this :D.

Is all Scotch a Scotch-Whiskey blend? I've had tons of Whiskey in my days, so I think I'll like Scotch. In this instance, I think I'll go with Jameson's or Bushmills to keep with the Irish theme and to pair with my traditional haul of Guiness on this hallowed day.

You guys help me decide here.

Oh, and so as to not COMPLETELY hijack the thread, we could really have the best starting 4 LB's in the league as a unit if we get Foote and Porter. Aside from Porter's positional dominance, Foote, Haggans and Hayes are all better than solid (I was JACKED about the Haggans signing last offseason). But, even moreso than that, we'd have rotational depth that will allow us to keep pressure on opposing O's ALL GAME LONG. This would also free us up to draft the BPAs in the draft to allow us to build into the future (ie, a CB at #26)....

Is that good, guys? :D

Unfortunately, this isn't 2006 anymore I'm afraid. :p

Foote would definately be a big upgrade over Dansby in stopping the run though.

I thin Foote gets signed and Porter doesn't(which means look for a Porter signing soon ) and that makes sense. The Cards have alot of guys, albeit unproven, at OLB, and no one at ILB. Signing Porter would give them 6 OLB'S, Brown, Davis, Hagans, Baggs, Washington, and Joey. Evenso, that's not a very imposing group on paper. You figure 1 to 3 LB's are going to be drafted. You can only keep so many.

Haggans could probably back up the interior spots as well, so I don't we should take this into consideration. We probably need to carry a bit more at LB to make up for all the youth.

Honestly, I don't see what's the big holdup we should have these guys signed already. I would overpay a little in the short term since the team isn't exactly negotiating from a position of strength.

My favorite scotch is Talisker 10 year. It's a bit on the pricey side but its delicious. But you can't go wrong with Johnny Walker Black. It's hard to beat at the price.

I was referring to Chivas.

Canadian Club is what we call Rye Whisky.

A bourbon by definition is from only Bourbon County, KY. Canadian Club is a blend as opposed to a straight rye, but most Canadian whiskey is a blend of mostly if not all rye, and referred to by Canadians as rye [Not correcting you Canuck, just expanding]. During my days in Canada, Seagram 5 Star was the only bottle that actually said "rye" and not "Canadian whiskey." But now with all the specialty whiskies I'm sure that's not the case. Straight rye is actually gaining a much bigger market share in the States, with brands like Buffalo Trace, Jim Beam's "Ri" label, and others. Along with the regular Jim Beam rye and Old Overholt.

For Scotch fans who also drink Irish, give Knappogue Castle a try. A lot more personality than Jameson, Bushmills, and Powers IMO, though I love all three. And now, McNulty on Bushmills:
