I don't get it...

Carolina reportedly had bats on the field during pre-game or something like that. The St Louis Cardinals who ESPN had on their power ball at #2 play baseball. So the top two teams in their power poll had bats on the field.

It took me quite awhile to figure it out. Twitter is not user friendly IMO.

So ESPN tweets their top 3 teams in the NFL, aka power poll. They have the ST. Louis Cards listed as #2 instead of the Arizona Cards.

The Arizona Cards tweet that "So two of the top three teams have carried bats on the field this year. Interesting."

Knowing that the Panthers bring a baseball bat on the field for pregame warmups because they are "bringing the wood" to the game and it's part of the Beckham freak out controversy. Naming the St. Louis Cards as the #2 team in the NFL the Az Cards quip is poking fun at ESPN for forgetting that the football Cards are now in Arizona.

So ESPN screws up and calls the Az Cards the St. Louis Cards and the Az Cards handle it with some class and wit.

While I got it right away personally, this is one of the more thorough explanations out there. Good job. :)

The NFL put the kabosh on on-field props. There was a statement last night on NFL network, but this is the only article I've found referencing it.

http://www.usnews.com/news/sports/a...rs-wont-bring-their-bat-on-field-before-games

League spokesman Greg Aiello said in an email to The Associated Press that the NFL sent a memo all 32 teams reminding them that "no foreign objects unrelated to the uniform or playing equipment are permitted on the playing field and sidelines on game day (which includes the pre-game period, during the game, and postgame on the field)."
