Yes, it was a 'no brainer': a guaranteed gig in Minny vs a maybe in AZ.
It is if he thinks the Cards are a crappy destination or a mess of an organization. Definitely a "no brainer". Nobody wants to work for a crappy employer or job. Maybe it comes back to bite him. As I stated, if he doesn't want to be here I don't want him either. I was never high on him anyway.

You sound like a guy who says 'hit me' with 17 in Blackjack. ;)

Has there ever been a coach who came out publicly torpedoing a guy interviewing for an HC job saying he was a horrible candidate?

With all this Kyler stuff I hope he comes back better than ever with a renewed attitude and can kick all the naysayers into the long grass. Seems like this no one wants to work with Kyler stuff has just snow balled. When do we play Denver next... I want our new HC and Kyler to destroy them.

He had a 1 in 3 chance, didn't like the odds, and had a promotion waiting for his signature in Minny.
There's not a head coach candidate in the NFL that thinks that way. They are supremely confident egomaniacs. If they are in the final round of interviews, they like their chances of getting the job. Especially when the competition is two first time candidates.

The more likely thinking, like stated, is that he thought there will be better jobs available next year. And that's another indictment on the Cardinals.

Good luck with that. We all wish Kyler had that attitude but he doesn't. If he was self-motivated to be the best he can be then these conversations wouldn't even be popping up.

Flores likely looked at the roster, team history and next year’s schedule and decided the mountain is too high to climb. But what I do not understand is this: If the decision is between two guys, why the wait? Make a choice and move forward. Give new guy time to assemble a staff, relocate, meet players and, most importantly, participate in the draft process.

Well, I'll defer to you. I'm sure you have a world of experience as a head hunter for NFL H-C's and other senior staff, and probably can regale us with tales of guys who turned down sure things for a crack at the 'prize' and won.

Flores went through 4 interviews for a D-C job and had one firm offer. He was faced with a dilemma. Take the job offered or take a 1 in 3 chance. I'm sure he was confident facing off against two coordinators without H-C experience, and I have you to attest to that. But, something may have bothered him as the deadline approached. Why? he may have asked, given that I interviewed weeks ago, haven't I been offered the AZ gig?

Then why bother taking the first interview?

If you deferred to me, then why did you go on to your reasoning?????
