They had a window in the 1st week to request permission and actually have 1st interview...Colts did it with Steichen. Cards were 100% fixated on Payton/Quinn/Flores, from jump and all the rest of the names started popping up in week 2 and then week 3. By that time, there was no choice but to wait until after the Superbowl for anyone on Eagles or Chief's staffs.
They could have interviewed either of them last week in the Super Bowl gap.

People are reaching.

Houston also has hired our former DL coach Matt Burke as Defensive Coordinator. Ryans seems to have seen things he liked here during his time in San Fran.
I always liked Burke!!! He was my favorite position coach on either side of the ball.

It is crazy how this franchise finds ways to take the run out of fun offseason things.

Last year they took the fun out of the playoffs.
They have taken the fun out of having a young QB.
Taken the fun out of the draft.
Taken the fun out of hiring a new HC.
Well said.

“It’s Super Bowl weekend and the entire NFL is focused on the Super Bowl, so we’re going to pause throughout the rest of the weekend and get restarted on this on Monday morning,” Bidwill said, via the team’s website. “We’re excited about the great progress we have made. Every bit of advice as been ‘take your time’ and we have. I’m sure there are some frustrations with some of our fans, but we want to make the right decision, not the fastest decision.”

Those guys have already had multiple interviews. Surely Cards would have interviewed them early if they were interested?

I think you should be aware that the media doesn't always know what is going on behind closed doors. And neither Anarumo nor Brian Callahan were called for an interview before Bengals lost.

I agree with all of it. But, Ron, doesn't it exactly indicate that an interview with someone like Steichen could be set up?

On January 30th, when asked if he was leaving Philadelphia, Gannon told the Philadelphia media,"Nah, Philly's keeping me. Good, bad, or indifferent, I'm staying here."

Now, I suppose he could change his mind, but I think it's unlikely that he leaves Philly for a head coaching position.

I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start despising MB "restart Monday morning" "great progress" meanwhile other teams have had coaches at the Senior bowl and draft boards set and we don't even know who's calling plays next year. Mikey B is such a dummy

He certainly doesn’t inspire confidence. What scares me the most is when I hear from Cardinal Insiders that it’ll be Michael & not MO that will be making the HC decision. This franchise will continue to suck as long as Michael continues to meddle way too much. Because I like Kyler, I’m hoping he can escape this franchise asap. It’s becoming more and more obvious why this franchise has NEVER had a HOF QB. They have no clue how to build around one.

Are you saying the CARDS weren't represented at the Senior Bowl or that the Scouting department has not been putting together preliminary draft boards?

What's that, and who's a member?

P.S. Some guy named Warner is in the HOF and wouldn't have got there without what he added to his resumé in AZ.

The NFL frowns on teams making headlines during Super Bowl week.

Warner was here for a cup of coffee. I’m talking about someone like Jim Hart, Neil Lomax, or Jake Plummer. Guys we drafted and developed. We had very little participation in the development of Kurt Warner.

I'm starting to wonder if the Super Bowl had something to do with Bidwill giving the braintrust their premature extensions. He knew he would have his hands full with obligations, so figured the last thing he wanted was to have to worry about hiring new coaches. So he rolled the dice that they would turn it around.

I guess that assumes their contracts would have ended this year, which I don't even know. But just a thought.
