The worst situation is for Fitz to play out his contract next year, (I know, I know there may not be a next year for the NFL) and then walk. That leaves the Cards getting zero for him.

I am worried about the Patriots making a play for him after this year. They have 2 picks in rounds 1, 2 and 3 and that includes picks from Oakland, Carolina and Minnesota respectively. The could offer a heck of a package. Who thinks Fitz would jump at the chance to have Brady throwing to him?

Yes, I do think we will do everything we can to keep him, but after next year he is free.

Of course I want him to stay. I spent good money for my personalized Cardinals license plate that reads: FTZGRD.

If we show an effort to improve this offseason and make Fitz the highest paid WR in football he will stay.

If not, then it is a crap shoot.

Then he's as good as gone. There is no way that this current pool of minds will take the steps necessary to field a successful team in the next couple years. We are rebuilding. We have to. Does Fitz want to be a part of that? I see no reason for him to. So I agree, those are big ifs.

If the Cardinals cannot reach a contract extention this season, then they will do what they did with Karlos Dansby. Slap the franchise tag on him two years in a row. No gloom doom here.

Except that you failed to read the previous posts that would have informed you that Fitz's contract prevents the Cardinals from being able to franchise him.

If Larry wants to stay then why not re-sign him now. This team has a boat load of money to spend right now. What are we about 30 million under the cap. Yea show him the money!

I read that they plan to do it this coming off-season.

He will not sign now!!! His comments all season is that loves AZ & he wants to win. Well, we aren't going to win without stability at QB & that might not happen next year unless we make a trade for Kolb, somehow get Orton or sell out to draft Luck should he declare (which I would possibly do). To think #11 signs a big time extension with a group like he played for this season in insane.

So what might it take to move from 4 or 5 to #1 in the upcoming draft, assuming Luck comes out? The Eli trade:

"Giants selected North Carolina State quarterback Philip Rivers with the fourth pick in the draft. The two teams then engineered a trade, with the Giants sending Rivers, their third-round pick in this draft (No. 65 overall), and first and fifth-round picks in the 2005 draft to the Chargers for Manning."

I would do that in a second. I think the Mike Vick trade is more comprable though because of Vick being the same level of QB prospect as Luck.

The Falcons got the opening pick in exchange for the fifth overall pick in the first round, their third-round pick, their second-round pick in 2002 and wide receiver Tim Dwight.
