The market on quality or even marginal tackles in this league has sky rocketed. If Shelton had hit the open market I would say it would had cost either the Cards or another team another 5-8 million easy.

Nice signing baby, nice

In free agency tackles and corners get paid way more than they're worth. You only need to take off 1 shoe to count every premier corner and tackle, so when a solid but not extraordinary player hits the market they get paid top dollar. Good thing we extended him before his contract got out of hand, plus if we lost him we would've been screwed.

If we didn't lock up Shelton, we would most likely be looking at Gallery in the draft. That is not a bad thing, but I think LJ has done well in the past two years after being inconsistent. He ffought through injury and that says so much about the heart and "want to" from a player. Lots of guys have heart and no talent. LJ has heart and talent...something that should be rewarded every time...and it was.

Now we can concentrate on taking the best player available outside of LT.

It has helped us in more ways than one.

It would have been a bad thing in the sense that would be purpetuating the same sorry cycle that we've been doing for years. Creating a hole and filling a hole for zero net gain.

Come to think of it, this will be the first year that I've EVER seen where we actually "gain" a player! Wow, I feel like celebrating! :bday:

Your right, Cards are actually gaining players this year instead of gaining by subtracting:thumbup: I will join you in the celebration.

That was precisely my point. I am glad we are building instead of maintaining.
