Cardinals president Michael Bidwill confirmed that the team will interview Andy Reid and Broncos OC Mike McCoy for the team's head-coaching vacancy.

Reid had reportedly been targeting San Diego and Arizona once he learned his fate in Philadlephia. With San Diego not interested, Arizona might be his best option. Bidwill added that the franchise has yet to give up on Kevin Kolb as the team's starting quarterback, and with Reid having already coached Kolb in Philadelphia, it seems like a match. The team doesn't have a preference in hiring a head coach or general manager first, and Bidwill says they will be looking at both the college and professional ranks for their next head man.

That is GREAT news to me.

Reid can get the best out of his QB's. I feel like this would bring some legitimacy to the organization.

I'm all for it, but lets not forget Reid benched Kolb then sent him packing. Just because Kolb is here and Reid was once his coach doesn't mean he'll come here for Kolb.

Maybe he uses Kolb, maybe he does not...all I know of the options presented, Reid has a good understanding of QBs to me and how to develop them and implement them into a scheme that works.

Honestly I'm pretty sure that there is a good chance that he would be told that he can draft a QB in the next draft if he doesn't like the likes of Kolb and Hoyer. Also there is the possibility of a trade for Cousins or Rivers. Not sure any of that will happen, but it's not like he will be told that if he took the job he would have to get it done with Kolb.

Am I the only one not excited? The guy lost several big games and lost the big one too. It wouldn't be bad but I would rather take my chances with Horton.

He just never had "the QB" to win it all. McNabb was a good, but not great and that is a very big part of the reason they couldn't pull it out more often than not.

All we have is what Horton did under very limited time with the defense and not even in a head coach perspective. Maybe Horton can be a good head coach but his maybes to me are far more than Reid. If someone told me I had a choice to keep Horton by making Ray head coach or lose him and have Reid as a head coach...I would take Reid with an average defense but very possibly a higher percentage to find and develop the most important position, quarterback

Reid said he told Holmgren: "Whatever you have to pay for him, pay for him, go get him, and he'll help you win a championship." Reid added: "That's how I feel about this guy. That's why I've got him. I didn't bring him in to be a backup, I brought him in to be a starter, and crazy things happened, with this Michael Vick thing, that nobody thought would happen ... That kid is a championship-caliber quarterback." -Andy Reid on Kevin Kolb.

What are the odds that this was inaccurate?

I was not sold on Reid. BUT, after talking to my friend tonight, he convinced my that the best possible scenario is Reid coming in as head coach while keeping Horton as DC/Assistant Head Coach. I was hard pressed to think of any better outcome than that. That would be one hell of a coup if the Cards pulled it off.

AND he would still not have that QB here. If Philly can't get that QB what makes you think he could get said QB here? Bottom line is I think he had an organization better at drafting and trying to get that QB versus here. He still didn't get it done.

The way I see it is that he got more out of his QBs than most could've, which was why he was so competitive in terms of division championships, playoff appearances, etc. He had a great, great run in Philly. And, with a couple of bounces in the other direction he would still be there.

You just watch what happens to Nick Foles from here on out.

I think that's a bit unfair. He obviously had McNabb playing good football for a number of years.

Vick was fantastic a couple years ago, so it's hard to fault Reid for going with him.

Don't forget Reid also got A.J. Feeley, Jeff Garcia, and even Koy Detmer and Kevin Kolb to play at a really high level at times. Foles didn't light the world on fire, but for a rookie 3rd round pick he played pretty incredible.

Exactly. Look at the trajectory of the guys listed above careers after leaving Reid. The guy can coach QBs, that's difficult to argue intelligently.

I'll take Reid and be happy. Prefer McCoy, but Reid is known and solid.

Pretty interest article here on NFL.com.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...to-chargers-predictions-for-coach-gm-openings

Here's an excerpt:

My prediction: Andy Reid. Structurally, with there being an opening at general manager as well as head coach, this is a good fit. It gets Reid back to his roots in the West Coast. And this move could possibly salvage the career of Kevin Kolb, whom Reid was very high on in Philadelphia.

This article is written by Daniel Jeremiah, who was a scout with the Eagles from 2010-2012.
With so much being said today about Reid getting rid of Kolb because he didn't want him and didn't believe in him anymore, it's interesting to hear a scout on the inside confirm that Reid was truly high on Kolb and not just blowing smoke.
