The optimistic side of me says if he missed 1 tackle every 5.7 and still had 117 tackles, it means he's around the ball alot and making plays...
Let's put that tackles- missed stat into English:

If he missed one tackle in every 5.7 attempts (17.5% of the time) it means he made the tackle 82.5% of the time. I don't see this as a problem.

And BTW, we still haven't seen the same stat for DWash, Paris Lenon, the average stat for MLB's, the average stat for ILB's, the best stat among ILB's or the worst stat.

The problem with looking at stats out of context is that there's a difference, say, between a bottom-ranking player who's at the tail-end of a tightly clustered group stat-wise, and one who's at the tail-end of (way below) a widely dispersed group

As for Bradley, it's fair to criticize him for not being able to dislodge Lenon or for costing too much, but I can't recall any times during a game where he looked bad enough to grab my attention and cause me to pull my lips off.

PS - NFL.com credits Brinkley with 99 tackles in 2012, 10 tackles. in 2011 (injured?) and 30 tackles in 2010, his rookie year.

Maybe he just needs a little coaching to improve his tackling ability. There has also been rumors that the Cardinals are interested in Urlacher.

The pessimist side of me says he played in a 4-3 and and his name is awfully close to Bradley.

I think he'll be fine because he's still young and, as far as I know, injury free. He's probably a better player than Maualuga at this point. Rey just has more name recognition.

That was exactly what I was thinking, for a dude who has so many tackles and people dumping on him for missing them...well, it seems this guy has a lot of hustle and will stick his face in contact whenever he gets the chance. He has a nose for the call so to speak. Sometimes he might miss a tackle because he ends up where the ballcarrier is but not at a advantageous position since he had to make some extened effort to get there. That is like faulting a guy for running his butt off across field through trash to make a tackle and missing when his fellow teammates where there and should have made the tackle with a better opportunity in my opinion. Then again, he just might suck and has a slow reaction time and the other team puts the ballcarrier in his vicinity often because they know it too LOL

This is like the Stewart Bradley signing two years ago but hopefully without the stupid contract. Will compete for SILB spot and is a two down linebacker with no value on passing downs. A "meh" signing for me, and will be defined by the contract.

Signing 2 down SILB's does nothing for me, but he should add a more physical pressence on defense than Lenon or Bradley were able to.
