Goes to show you - I was thinking just the opposite.
Whether or not you agree with Kaep, this deal,walks, talks and quacks like a lose-lose proposition likely to present a distraction in the development of a young QB and the installation of a new system and culture.
It's one thing to accidently back into a disruptive situation but another to deliberately stick your hand in a hornets nest.
I'd respectfully pass.

Kyler's on the right path but he's not all the way there yet. You guys worry a lot about the optics and the media circus and all of that jazz but the stats speak for themselves. Kaep's got the 23rd highest QBR in league history, the 2nd best interception rate, and the 9th most rushing yards per game. Kaep's style of play would be perfect to mentor Kyler. Kyler's scary good right now, but he's not a QB teams see in their nightmares. Kaep could change that.

hahaha needing a mentor is the most overrated term thrown around in this forum and it’s done often... Just like the crowd saying keep Fitz around regardless of cost due to his mentorship... There is absolutely no proof that Fitz mentors anybody well and has given any long-term effect on the organization moving forward due to it. You just assuming Kaepernick would be a great mentor because of the few stats you throw out means absolutely jack squat In regards to his effect on Kyler as a pro or on the field.

More than likely it was part of the deal Kap made with the NFL a few months ago.
As an elder player I don't think adding him to the locker room with Murray is a very good idea.
As the saying goes "One rotten apple can spoil the whole bunch"
Last thing the Cards need is Kap in Murray's ear about the NFL and things he should/shouldn't be doing

Thank you. I agree its one of the biggest misnomers among fans...thinking that a CB playing with Pat every week makes them better, or how Larry somehow makes other receivers better. Ive seen no empirical proof of any of this. On the contrary, our CB2 next to Pat sucked for years...why didnt he rub his magical sweat on them to elevate their play?
Note how i didnt even mention what a hilariously ironic take it is to think Kaepernick would be a good mentor. He was an amazing athlete, but always struggled with other QB traits like throwing with anticipation, throwing with touch, etc. IMO players like him that get by on athleticism have absolutely nothing to offer from a mentoring or coaching aspect, nevermind his jaded worldview.

There is winner Kaepernick who kissed his own biceps, wore opposing team gear, and had commercials about how he was the man on the way to the NFC title game.
Then there was crappy Kaepernick who was a one read running turnover machine after Nolan left.
Then there was SJW Kaepernick who was a focus of the media either through word, action, or imagery

Kaep hasn't played since 2016. That is a long time to be out of football. Can't see how he could help a team this late in the season not knowing any of the offense that they would be running. He was initially pretty good under Harbaugh but then has performance was bad after he left. Cards don't really need him.

He doesn't want to play in the NFL. Ever since he realized he could be just as famous by being a professional victim, he has not wanted to play. Any legitimacy he had has gone out the window when he turned this whole thing into him be "black listed" from the NFL. He has been offered deals before, but has wanted more money or wanted to be handed a starting job in the NFL. Please also remember HE OPTED OUT OF HIS CONTRACT! He would have never been out of the NFL, except he thought he was worth more money. The professional football coaches and evaluators disagreed.
He sucks. He was never that good, and now he is old and crappy. He lost his starting job....under 2 different coaches....to BLAIN GABBERT!!!! His CAREER BEST was just over 3k yards and 20 TDs. Ryan Fitzpatrick is 10X the QB that Kapernick ever was.
Would we be giving it any attention if Matt Cassel was holding a workout in which he demanded a starting job and starter money? His career years were better than Kap!
