This week Steve Keim stated that he thought he may be able to make some trades this year with his excess talent at certain positions.

That being the case---submit trade proposals here so we can discuss them and I will email the best ones to BA&SK. In each proposal, include the following: the players' measureables (ht/wt/years exp./college), pertinent stats, salary info, why the Cardinals make the trade, why the other team makes the trade.

Here my first proposal:

The Arizona Cardinals trade DE/OLB Matt Shaughnessy (6-5,285,7,Wisconsin,2015 salary $2,775,000, Dead Cap $1,200,000) to the Indianapolis Colts for TE Dwayne Allen (6-3, 265, 4, Clemson, 2015 salary $1,717,826, Dead Cap $175,826).

Why The Cardinals Make the Trade:

* They need an experienced TE now that John Carlson has retired.
* They are very deep at 34DE
* Dwayne Allen had his best season when BA was the Colts' OC (see video below).

Why the Colts Make the Trade:

* They need to bolster the run defense and Shaughnessy's forte is stopping the run---they are not talented and deep at DE, and the Patriots ran all over them in the playoffs.
* They are deep at TE with Coby Fleener as the top receiving target and Jack Doyle as the top blocker---and some good young UDFAs in Jean Sifrin (UMass), Justin Sinz (Purdue) and Erik Swoope (1, Miami).
* The Colts plan to use Donte Moncrief as a slot WR/flex TE.
* Allen becomes a UFA in 2016, as does TE Coby Fleener and they likely won't be able to re-sign both of them.

Both players have missed portions of season due to injuries.

Shaughnessy's best season as a Cardinal:

2013: 36 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 7 tackles for loss.

Allen's best season as a Colt:

2012: 46/521/11.6/3-TDs/30 first downs (in 2014: 29/395/13.6/8-TDs/24 first downs).

i'd be okay with that trade, although I do fear taking away too many pieces from the D, especially with a new coordinator calling the shots.

Mitch------I fully understand your urge to take a look at something new and different here on the board--------and trades are something we rarely encounter. Being much lazier than you, I am content to simply wait and see what TC brings by way of injury or lack of performance that was anticipated, so as to see where any extra bodies might evolve for use as trade material. In addition, while I know that Keim spoke of such occurrences, he also seemed to be more prone to letting things sort themselves out in TC, then being prepared to trade late in order to either, (a. add an available veteran, or
b. add some draft picks for next off-season). I will stick with that and not set about devising possible trades for now.

I like the trade... I wonder what the Colts fans would think about it? The Colts have Fleener, who is their #1 TE, but Allen is a pretty good TE.

I don't think there is any way Indy would consider that trade. If they would do it, Keim should get it done in a nanosecond. Allen is a very talented, young TE while Shaughnessy is a dime a dozen reserve DE.

I don't think they'll be many, if any, player for player trades. Keim will likely only be able to acquire lated round draft picks for the guy he'd be releasing.

Allen would be an awesome trade target but it's going to cost a lot more than Matt to acquire him.

I'd do it in a second. But I don't think the Colts would.

I'd do it in a second. But I don't think the Colts would.

Allen is regarded as the #1 TE, Fleener has the drops from time to time. Fleener has slightly more catches but had a ridiculous and inefficient number of targets. (51/92 vs. 29/50. Both had the same number of TD's).

I'm interested to see which one of them they keep. Fleener has a relationship with Luck but Allen is the more talented.

I like that trade.

How about a 4th Round Pick for Mike Glennon?

TB accrues draft capital and we get a young big armed third strong QB who is more ready to go in now and better long term potential then Logan Thomas.

I actually think Glennon could replace Stanton if he became a Cardinal. That would still leave the 3rd position open. Keeping both Glennon and Stanton would be like having two 2nd string QBs on the roster.

I think because of last year its a MUST. Invest in the 3rd string QB and I think Glennon is perfect imo.

I agree 1000% percent.

Stanton as 3 I can live with.. As a 2? not so much.

I think the Colts wouldn't even consider moving Allen for Shaughnessy.

Though a move for Glennon would be a smart move at the right price, the only trade I'd expect would be closer to the last cut where someone is moved for a future 7th round selection or something.
