Good to hear from a Cards employee! At least that means that I am on the same page as they are as far as evaluating talent.

Duane Clemons is a scrub, and probably not any better than anyone we have.

It's like one coach said about former ABA player (and convicted felon) Reggie Harding......"He's the kind of guy you only consider bringing in if you're desperate".

uh, i think we qualify as desperate.

I don't honestly think he is really any good.

hmm, that makes him as good or better than every single DE on OUR roster!

No. He is equal to anything on our roster, or below.

He really isn't good at all, and frankly I don't understand why they were even interested. He is only a backup type, which we have plenty of (KVB and Wakefield are good backups).

Whoa! When did you get this opinion? I thought you were a KVB backer. Even I'm not quite willing to write of KVB as a "good backup". If you're not careful, Sec isn't going to like you anymore...

ideally he is a third-de-rotation-guy.

and i was being facetious about clemons being better than anyone we have, though he's probably their equal. sad.

Why are you trashing KVB ?

He was real good for a few games then got hurt, last year he was still rehabing. It takes more than 1 season to recover.

Oh it is sad, and I won't disagree. But I think that DJ, Calvin Pace, and Alton Moore could be the wild cards.

Clemons would've helped marginally, but I wonder how much.

Ideally he is a left end, but we are toast if he is our right end.

At left end he could develop into a quite effective starter (not a Pro Bowler) but I think he will always be a below average right end. Calvin Pace has the tools to become a dominant all around end and I am confident with him, but the jury is still out on him.

No one is trashing KVB, merely pointing out he would be effective as a left defensive end (not a right) or as a top backup.

He's All World. Clearly better than Strahan.

And so the nickname of the Cardinal defense came to be -

The Wild Cards

(But we shouldn't use it until the Card D comes of age).

I don't really think this is a big deal, I only mentioned it because there's NOTHING ELSE TO TALK ABOUT!
