Check out some of the players we could have had we have drafted smarter. I tracked backed to 1997.
1997- We took Tom Knight. We could have had Tony Gonzalez.
1998- We took Andre Wadsworth. We could have had Charles Woodson.
1999- We took David Boston and L.J. Shelton. We could have had Chris McAlister and still should have taken Shelton.
2000- We took Thomas Jones. We could have had either Brian Urlacher or SHAUN ALEXANDER!!
2001- We took Leonard Davis. I would have taken him so that pick was good.
2002- We took Wendell Bryant. We could have had Ed Reed.
2003- We took Bryant Johnson and Calvin Pace. We had the sixth pick and could have taken hometown hero Terrell Suggs. Even ESPN analysts said live "what were they thinking?". And that's a trade I will never forgive them for.
2004- We took Larry Fitzgerald and I agreed with the pick because we weren't the only ones who passed on Roethlisberger.

Imagine how our team would be doing if we had that roster.

What is real torture is, per draft day coverage by the local media folks is the following:

1997-- war room debate over Gonzales and Knight. Need wins out. Dohh.
1998-- Guy they wanted. Oh well. NOBODY second guessed them on this.
1999-- Fergy really wanted John Tait. Dont know who over ruled him, but that was the beginning of the end for Fergy.
2000- three way race between those mentioned. Considered Urlacher the best upside, went with need for RB, and picked the wrong one.
2001- Everyone had them picking Gerard Warren. Finally - a good move.
2002-I beleive it came down to Bryant and Phillip Buchanon. Dohh.
2003- Here is where it is scary -- if they hadnt traded down, it would have been Jonathan Sullivan of Georgia. Bigger bust for the Saints than Bryant for the Cards.

So close to making good decisions, so many made the wrong way.
