Ugliest thing I seen yesterday was how the D kept letting TJ roll right bootleg over and over. He can throw well running to his right, to his left he sucks balls, he'd rather run it (and did and scored). That bootleg brought them back in the game, should have nipped it in the bud when it started.
This is what happens when you're ill prepared for a game. As I said, this falls on the coach.

Of course, I will defer to your self described superior knowledge of the game, as should we all. I know enough about sport, generally, to know that's it's about more points on the board than the opposition.

All other points are subject of debate, but, fact remains that the Cards won the time of possession in this game, and were in position to tie or win.

I can tell you with 100% accuracy that I've forgotten more about this sport than you will ever dream to know. You're still not getting it. The fact remains that their offense shouldn't have scored 3 let alone 13. As bad as the offense was, they put this team in a position to win a very ugly game and the defense let it slip with a lax drive.

Not all. Kolbe is making some critical mistakes too. But having many 3rd and longs is not condusive to good offensive football either. Too conservative mtl.

It's critical to have sustained success on 1st and 2nd downs and avoid the many 3rd and longs Warner would consistently bail them out on.

Well, we have your word for it, and who could possibly doubt that

We were 3/14 on third down, and intercepted at the 25 yard line with 1.05 to go. Silly of me to think that this had a bearing on losing the game.

A game plan on the road is fairly elementary. Keep it close and be in a position to win in the end. The Stuckey fumble blew that opportunity in Washington, and the int. with 1.05 to go killed it in Seattle. The 'D' did their job by retaining the 'O' opportunity to win in both games. As said - elementary - but, perhaps a smart guy like you skipped it on your way to a Phd in football knowledge.

Playing to try not to lose / keep it close.

IMO that in was in a nutshell this game.

I mean, entering the second half, we had the lead. Whisenhunt and the offensive staff came in and ran a lot of 2 TE formations. Rarely did we see 4 WR sets, which is Kolb's bread and butter, and the teams bread and butter as well. I was absolutely incredulous that we didn't go 4 Wide! Seattle struggled to match up with that set on our TD drive.

Offensively we coached not to lose. On defense, on their TD drive we failed to bring pressure, bringing extra blitzers. Earlier in the game we were getting to T Jack with 3-4 man rushes. Seattle adjusted and we couldn't get to him on that drive. But did we adjust during the drive? No we didn't and Seattle got an easy score. After that TD, we adjusted, bringing extra rushers and from that point on T Jack went back to his struggling self.

I don't think that people have a problem with not converting enough 3rd-and-13s, but this is ridiculous:

NFL Game Logs said:
# 2-1-ARI 13 (2:49) (No Huddle) 4-K.Kolb pass short right to 11-L.Fitzgerald to ARI 13 for no gain (23-M.Trufant).
# 3-1-ARI 13 (2:27) 46-A.Smith left tackle to ARI 13 for no gain (56-L.Hill, 91-C.Clemons).
# Two-Minute Warning
# 4-1-ARI 13 (2:00) 9-D.Zastudil punts 44 yards to SEA 43, Center-82-M.Leach. 33-L.Washington to ARI 49 for 8 yards (35-A.Sherman; 49-R.Johnson).

3-6-ARI 44 (12:10) (Shotgun) 4-K.Kolb pass incomplete short right to 86-T.Heap (31-K.Chancellor).

# 2-1-ARI 29 (5:28) 46-A.Smith right tackle to ARI 29 for no gain (57-D.Hawthorne; 79-R.Bryant).
# 3-1-ARI 29 (4:51) 46-A.Smith left end to ARI 25 for -4 yards (91-C.Clemons).

# 3-4-ARI 44 (1:16) (Shotgun) 4-K.Kolb pass incomplete short right to 11-L.Fitzgerald.

3-1-ARI 40 (9:06) 46-A.Smith left guard to ARI 40 for no gain (31-K.Chancellor; 91-C.Clemons).

Kolb threw his first pick targeting Fitz on 2nd-and-1. :bang:
