you can bet he wants to be a LT and has no desires of playing at G.
If that's what he wants, I hope he gets it.

I like LJ--like you, I think he's a real class act.

Yup. As far as players go in my experience they dont get any classier then LJ Shelton. I would hate to see him go. But a one for one trade like this would be good for both teams and players IMO.

Screw the one for one for T Henry. I had rather make a trade for another Day 1 draft pick. I don't think our current RB's are that bad with Shipp, Hambrick, and ? Make the trade for Henry and in two yrs we will be looking to draft another franchise RB, IMO

I would choose to go with Henry. Because a couple years ago we were in a similar situation. We were looking at 4 Defensive Tackes. Sims, Haynesworth, Bryant and one other guy. We were hoping to land one of those four. We end up with Bryant. Now we are looking at 3 RBs Brown, Benson, and Williams. I just think it might be a safer bet to take Henry than gamble. I also realize we could get one in the later rounds, but then its even more of a gamble to get a starter. Don't get me wrong I would be estatic if we were to land one of the three. I just would like to solidify the RB position for once.

Heres a point everybody seems to have missed.

The Bills are holding the short end of the stick for 1 big reason. Henry will be a free agent next year. If they don't do something with him this year they will get NOTHING for him. In fact he has said he will NOT play for the Bills THIS year. Think that won't happen? Remember what Keenan McCardell did to the Bucs last year?

Sorry Buffalo. One player for the other. Don't waste our time with any other proposals. In fact, if you wait much longer we will be asking YOU to throw in your 3rd pick for our second 3rd pick.

Totally agree with slan on this one. We have Shipp, Hambrick, Scobey, Anderson and Croom. Oh yeah, we also have the #8 pick. Shelton is not great but he is a pretty good tackle and that is hard to come by in this league. Henry is proven but he is not a guarantee. He is on the smallish side and not lightning fast. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see him in Cardinal red. I believe that we need to play hardball or go in another direction. Another year of not starting is going to hurt Henry and he knows it. Once you have been placed in a position of uncertainty it is difficult to break the mental damage that is done. Henry needs a fresh start and he needs it this year. Shelton for Henry and a swap of thirds in our favor. Shelton is cheap and the Bills have a greater need for this trade than we do.

Actually, if he sits out the year, he doesn't get credit and will still have one full year left on his contract. There's a specific cutoff game that a player has to report by to have a contract year count.

I think he has to report for half the games. If so, then Henry will wait and report to the team in week #9.

Maybe. I know it is something like game 9 or 10.
I think it is if it is the last year of his contract it is only 4 games. I am not positive but a Bills fan was saying that.

Possible Counter Offer

If Bills insist on their #55 for our #44, we could soften the impact by demanding a "reverse" swap of picks in the 3rd round. Our 3b (somewhere around 96) for their 3 (somewhere around 85).

I'm not sure where Henrys value falls as far as the draft but has there been any talk of our second for him?

I say to the Bills......go **** yourselves. There has to be other otions out there for us.

The Dolphins were said to be looking for a 1st round pick for Surtain and have found zero takers......I've also read that they would take a 2nd round pick for him. They could use Shelton in a big way. Are we exploring this........I wonder?

Carolina could use Shelton. New York Giants could use him. Houston as well. I would consider it a travesty in negotiating if we swap our 2nd round picks. Dropping eleven picks in the second means a serious drop off in BPA.

And I don't consider swapping our current 3b for their higher 3rd rounder as acceptable compensation.

And I don't want Henry anyways.........there is a solid chance that Cadillac Williams will fall to #8.

There is also a solid chance Cadillac Williams will be a huge bust in the NFL. In Henry you are getting a proven Franchise caliber RB at the NFL level!

For the record , I would love to get Henry, even if it's only for 1 year. It would allow us to take a cb in the first round. That solves our 2 glaring needs.
I would still love to grab another rb in round two like Arrington. Can you imagine a stable of backs like Henry, Arrington, Hambrick and Shipp?

You might not agree with about renting Henry for 1 year but it's not a move that would hurt our future. If Henry lights it up we could try to sign him to a new contract. If not we will have cleared Sheltons cap hit by 2006 and have Arrington to step in.

To me it's a win -win situation. Henry would have no reason to dog it being that he would be in his contract year. A guy like Arrington would be a nice insurance policy in case of injury and might actually be able to unseat Henry as the starter.

Pacman, Arrington, and Henry is a better combination than Williams, any other cb in round 2 and Shelton, or Pacman, Arrington and Shelton.

It seems to me that it's as valid to argue that he'll be a solid pro. It's certainly the hope, the expectation of the team drafting. Perhaps, you could have simply added..."IMO".
