By extreme I mean inside the 10. Our overall red zone scoring % isn't bad at 51% but it seems as though when it comes to scoring TD's, we are mediocre at best. The fact that Feely has 7 FG's of 29 yards or less speaks to the fact that we're near abysmal inside the 10. This is one factor that must change. Cost us today for sure.

For nostalgia's sake.... There's this play, you guys might remember it. It's this impossible to defend even when you know it's coming play where you throw the ball up to the best jumping WR in the game (who happens to play for us) and he catches it for a sure TD even when there are 3 defenders there. It's called a goal-line fade.

It's a pretty simple pass,,,, in fact, it's a pass that most high school QB's can execute. Unfortunately anytime any of our incompetent QB's attempt it they throw it 20 yards over his head.:bang:

Yeah I realized that too. That they dont use that. There used to be at least one shot to fitz when they get down in that territory. I dont get it.

IMO this is what cost us the SB and it was 2 fold. First, at the end of the half, instead if running that Fitz fade, Warner tried to force one into Boldin and of course, the rest is history. Ben, OTOH, threw a pass to Holmes where only Holmes can catch it and, of course, the rest is history.

seriously man...I hate to say this...but "In Madden" you simply throw the fade to Larry until it works. Takes maybe 2 downs on a bad day, 3 if the crap hits the fan. It's a money play in pixels...it's a money play in real life.

When was the last time we threw the fade to Larry?

I've been complaining about that pulling guard play the Cards run in goaline situations for years. There has been more fumbles and blown up plays on that call than I can stand. That's the play that killed the comeback today. Line it up, smashmouth style, and try to run your powerback down their throat. I hate the play. Even moreso at the goaline when the defense is geared up to penetrate and going all out to stop the run.

And God forbid use the fullback once in a while.

I noticed that the announcing crew said that Whiz was the Card's primary play caller. If so, he still leaves a whole lot to be desired as a play caller. I do so wish that he would relenquish his pension for needing to call plays. We seem to have much better success when he is not involved in that.

I was certain we would throw the fade to Larry on that fateful play before the half at the SB. Alas, Haley (and now Whis) just out-thought himself. And what happened later when we did throw the fade to Fitz? Despite absolute perfect coverage by Ike Taylor, Fitz still caught it for a critical TD.

Sometimes, football is as simple as "my athlete is better than your athlete". There's nothing wrong with that....don't try to be a genius, just throw the fade to Fitz!!

That's what your best player is for. If you throw it up to your best player and he misses it, so be it. If it's defended well, so be it. But throwing into the teeth of a defense like that was stupid. At worst that game should have been tied at the half, not us down by 10.

Disagree with throwing a pass when you are on the one yard line and it is first down. You try a running play first and if that fails, go to the pass.
