That is complete and total BS. He did want to stay in AZ, some of his family is now in AZ, and his best friend in the world is on the team. He wanted to stay in AZ but was lowballed by Graves and company.

Second, I will give you he didnt perform his first three seasons but what did he have to work with? He was playing out of position and was "coached up" by the likes of Joe Greene and that old dude ( cant remember his name). He finally finds a spot on this defense, excels, says he wants to stay in AZ, and is let go. Nice...

He didn't get lowballed, the Jets overpaid for him.

You can't believe what players say. For you hockey fans, Adam Foote was all about wanting toi finish his career in Columbus, loved it here. Then he was traded back to the Avalanche at the deadline and he comes out and says he was shocked at being traded. The real strory has come out where he had a private jet waiting at the airport to take him to Calgary(where Colo played the next night), already had his equipment shipped there, and told the Blue Jackets FO that if they didn't trade he'd be a bad teammate, bad player and, worst of all, a bad captain.

You're right. The Jets are famous for their player additions. I mean, look at that rich draft history.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZxNeFLuY98

Maybe they will draft another kicker in the first round!

:D

Being from the NY area, when I re-assessed my situation and had to decide on the team I would root for, for the rest of my life. I could have chosen the Jets.....but I figured on rooting for a team with some hope to win.

That is a lot of excuses for sucking for 3 years. How about playing like a first round talent, and over comming the odds.

Low Balled ? Whatever. He is not worth 22 million, Dansby is worth that but not Calvin Pace. I can't remember the last game Calvin Pace "turned around" like Dansby seems to do.

But you are right my post was a lot of BS, I admit. But if Pace wants to take shots at the fans, that is fine. Pretty bush league, but fine. I didn't really like the guy anyway.

He lost my support after falling out of that window.

I don't blame the Jets fans for being happy about signing a good young player. In the end, fans don't really care about the owner's money or the cap, as long as the team wins.

So Calvin Pace is saying that it does matter when someone sells their tickets to the fans of an opposing team?

Lowballed? Could you direct me to the numbers the Cardinals are offering?

I'm sure as hell glad that we didn't offer him 22 mil guranteed!

I happen to have knowledge of the situation and trust me it was a half-hearted attempt at keeping him.

Nope. I think a lot of the guys on the team like the hard core fans.

I was received very nicely by our team in Houston. They saw we were only a select few but a lot went out of there way, even after a loss, to say hi.

I think the new stadium has been rocking.

Pace just THINKS he is good because he is a first rounder. Biggest mistake about Pace was not picking T-Sizzle instead of Hingus and Dingus (BJ and Calvin).

Maybe. I know there are some that openly discuss such things.

I don't know...I've PMed several different members of this board who were able to say things in private that they couldn't say in public on the board. LV is a respectable member of the board, so he might warrant the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry. It is quite the stretch to say that Pace was lowballed. Lets say the Cards offered him 5 years at 20 million and another 10 million in signing bonus(guaranteed) purely hypothetical mind you. But quite a bit lower then what the Jets offered.

Of course Pace and his entourage/supporters IE LV would say he was lowballed according to what the Jets payed him. But IMO that would be right in line with what he was worth based on production. Not a penny more.

Let other teams overpay.

Listen I'm a Cards supporter but MJ said on his show that he talked with Pace this week and Pace said the Cards hadn't made an offer since November. Doesn't mean it's true but either Pace and/or MJ are lying or the Cards never really wanted to keep Pace after all.

All that being said, the Jets did overpay for Calvin. Maybe Whiz and company just didn't think Pace fit what they are trying to do. We will probably never know.

Actually, the mistake (and it was a monumental one) was made by your boy Graves.

Now your just pokin' fun. Your gonna give me a bad rep around here. :D

HUGE Mistake. Imagine having T-Sizzle (ridiculous nickname) on this team ?

Playing in a 4-3 or 3-4 who cares ? Terrell Suggs is a BEAST and we past him up. He was sitting right there. EXACTLY what we needed.

Ugh....... Never mind it is in the past go on.

Because he didn't give Pace $22 mil to keep him here?

Pace is a great kid and I really like him and hate to see him go, but there is no way he should get that kind of money.

You can't keep every player and if a player has the ability to go somewhere else and make more money, he needs to do that. I don't fault Pace one bit for lining his pockets.

That being said, accept it for what it is and be happy for him, but there's no need to bash anyone over it. Circumstances just didn't work out between him and the team and they both had to do what they did.

Rugby, I don't think Pace was taking a shot at Cardinal fans he was complaining about something that really irritates me as well, the large numbers of opposing fans in our stadium.

Remember when the Cardinals were advertising tickets for sale in the City of teams coming to Arizona to play the Cardinals? And now scalpers control 1000s of seats at the Frat House.

The new stadium does rock but it still has thousands of fans of other teams at games not the 100s you see at most other stadiums. Just wait until we play Dallas again this fall. I'm predicting 30,000 or more cowboys fans at the game.

I don't trust you in this because you have a long history of bashing Rod Graves for everything he does and everything he does not do.

I did a search of your posts to make sure my memory wasn't wrong about this. It wasn't.

Everybody here knows the Cards had no intention of throwing big money at Pace. Many did not like that. Some did. But nobody claimed any inside knowledge except you and yet you have added no additional information to what we knew already.

You also claimed in another thread to personally be friends with the starting safety on the Syracuse football team. This too could be true but it is more implied inside knowledge.

And no, I don't wish to pm you and learn the source of your inside knowledge. If you truly have some inside source, it's probably best you not compromise that person.

NFL live on ESPN just questioned the deal too. They were surprised by the amount so we have a right to make fun of them, especially when it looks like we just got a similar guy for half the price in LaBoy.

I had no intentions of comprimising anyone, that is why I choose not to reveal certain things on a message board. It is ok if you dont believe me, in fact I understand that perfectly. That is why I dont bring this up when posting here. Sometimes I let my emotions get the better of me when I read accounts of what happened that are simply not true.

As far as the Graves bashing, meh, it is what it is. I dont agree with the majority of things he has done since being here, but the few things I did like I was vocal about it. I dont know him from Adam, but even you (one of the staunchest of his supporters) has to admit that in most other NFL teams, a GM with his track record and W/L percentage wouldnt be around very long.

Calvin got a lot of money to play for the Jets but wait untill he sees how much its going to cost to match his AZ lifestyle in the NY metro area. Enjoy the gloom of New Jersey.

on signing Pace--

It wouldnt surprise me if the last contract offer from the Cardinals was in November -- Somers reported that Pat Dye (Pace's agent) concluded mid-season that Pace would be highly sought after in free agency.

If the team made an offer, and (lets say) Dye rejects it saying "we think we can get more than double that in free agency" --

then, whats the point of pushing paper back and forth if both sides know that until free agency either proves or disproves Dye's assumption, no deal is possible?

an lastly -- FWIW -- is there any question that the Dolphins and/or Jets tampered with Pace? Odd that for a guy who you would never peg to generate a contract like that -- there were media reports prior to free agency beginning that he would be getting $15mm - $20mm guaranteed money. Lo and behold -- it happens.
