Big Pass Rush?

If they had a good pass rush then so did the Cardinals last year. Cards had more sacks and pressures then Carolina did last year, by a very slim margin though. Besides Johnson everyone else is a below average pass rusher on that team.

They have 4 edge rushers who are by far better than any we have: Charles Johnson, Eric Norwood, Greg Hardy and Everette Brown---and keep your eye on DTs Corey Irvin, Terrell McClain and Sione Fua as rush tackles. Fua is a beast. Did you see their game last week?

1998. The game where the Cards were up 31-0 and finally won 45-42. Some things never change.

...like QB's sucking, Rbs succeeding elsewhere, coaches getting fired every 3 yrs & the D always sucking? Like clockwork...maybe Mr B does need to give back the 1925 title :D

One thing I can't figure out, how did we manage to not get scheduled to play the Giants in New York on September 11th? I know Giants v Redskins makes more sense but still.... :D

Yeah, I don't know about you, but I am glad we didn't. The last time that happened we got destroyed!

Come on Mitch we have Haggans & Porter, Schofield & Acho...what else could we ask for? Maybe 1 day a defensive minded coach like Cruddy Ryan will finally add some edge rushers to this team & not neglect the offense like he did. :D

IMO people want to believe adding Horton is the missing piece, but until we add the playmakers to help him succeed we will just keep spinning our wheels with the next best DC.

This IS very good news. I hope he is not just calming the storm. I still believe that if he is not signed by the regular season, he will leave. I figure we have two more weeks to get it all on paper. After that------------

Not worth arguing with him, he is living in 2005. Says the Seahawks are lights out at home yet they are under .500 overall the past few years.

We've sucked in NY since the '80's just like we have in Wash. :bang:

It's more than that. It always seemed like the Cards games coincided with some big event for the other team or the City they represented.

Remember back in the late 90's when every time a Cowboy player was hurt or suspended their first game back was always against the Cardinals.

Amazing the weird conspiracy theories you can come up with when your team goes 5-11 for 20 years.

I will never forget that game. That was a game while you were watching you were thinking "only the Cardinals"...the sad thing that was the only winning blowout I can remember at any point of a game over the course of like 10 years......and we STILL almost lost the game.

I can still see Rob Moore catching TDs in my sleep.

tobin beat them his first season in the ridiculous Boomer game where he threw for 800 yards and 10 touchdowns.

I embarrassed Esiason by bringing up that game in front of my daughters team at the NFL Flag Football Nationals a few years ago.

I don't think he liked being reminded that he once played for Arizona.

Just for fun, a picture of the team in Florida autographed by Larry Fitzgerald. My daughter is just on the other side of the Center.

Thinking back you're right Duck. Hey don't forget it always seems we get the shaft on the schedule too. This year starting in week 7 we play Pit, @Bal, Stl, @Phi, @SF, @Stl then Dal. We better have a good start or we may be cooked in that stretch.

Norwood, Hardy, and Brown = 3 guys who have done absolutely nothing in the NFL. 3 Guys combined for 10 career sacks. Edge rushers they have to to prove they are, let alone "BIG TIME". They have shown about as much pass rush ability as Acho, Schofield and Davis, so I will proclaim that trio "big time" edge rushers as well.

You loved those guys in the draft so you are only looking at their names, yet completely ignoring their production and how they have played in their combined 5 years in the NFL.

McClain and Fua are not beasts. One preseason does not a rookie make. Or Stephen Williams should be an all star and we should stop talking about looking for a #2 WR and stop complaining about the lack of a #2.

Irvin has only played in 2 games in his career and showed nothing last year.

What you are talking about is "potential" big time pass rush, becuase there is zero factual evidence to say they already have one.

Way wrong. The next two games the Cards scored a combined total of 67 points and Boomer threw for a combined 627 yards and 5 TDs.

EDIT: A three week total of 1,149 yards and 8 Touchdowns. Not bad

yeah... the next week they had another wild win against Philly where Boomer tossed to Marcus Dowdell for a 25 yard touchdown with like 25 seconds left.

actually, i think there was a game in between where the offense rang up like 31 on the rams as well.

i think it was two weeks later that they struggled against Dallas to score 9 points... actually, i think it was a 10-6 loss.

you will forgive me. This is the year they lost to the 1-15 Jets, right? And lost to the 6-10 Giants?

Funny, you credit their 3 for 10 sacks---and put them on a par with our three who have 2 sacks.

Charles Johnson had 11.5 sacks last year. What did our edge rushers have?

Did you see their game last week or not?

Watching their pass rush versus ours, there is no comparison.

Fua is a beast---you will see. He's a good'un!

That was the year of the Jets and they lost to Danny Kannell  and the Giants.

That 6-10 loss to Dallas led to one of the best times ever at SDS the next season, the Take Back the whatever it was called drive that resulted in thousands of extra ticket sales to Cardinals fans, a 50/50 mix of Cards and cowboys fans at the game and the overtime win that sent the goalposts down Mill Avenue. Jeff Gollin almost got killed at that game. Squeezed to death in a celebratory bear hug. SDS was as electric as I've ever seen it.

Also had a big get together of guys from the old Cards Corner Board that weekend.

All the Cardinals need to think about right is playing Carolina---and if anyone thinks that game is a gimme---you've got another thing coming. Their defense is loaded with talent (big pass rush and outstanding LBers), they have 2 stud RBs, Smith/LaFell/Olsen as receivers, 2 All-Pros on the o-line in T Jordan Gross and C Ryan Kalil and a very good return man in Armanti Edwards. We've got to find a way to slow their pass rush so as to exploit their young secondary---we've got to stop the run---and we have to hope to force Clausen or Newton into mistakes. On paper they have more talent and balance of talent than we do...but like we do, they need to get good QB play.

If only we had a solid run game... :bang:

I just don't understand people looking at the schedule and trying to determine wins and losses. Saying the season is done if we struggle in the first 3 games is a bit of "The Sky Is Falling" Chicken Little ********!!!! Let them play the games! Let them play the season! If the don't make the playoffs, it won't be based on the first 3 games alone. It's a new season!

At the time I lived in Utah (don't ask) had a friend get tickets for us, of course we end up on the East side (visitor's) near the the top absolutely surrounded by Cowboy fans in 103 temps (nasty).

The game goes in to overtime and to win the game Kevin Butler shanks the winning field goal off the goal post. I went absolutely nuts and gave a rash of sh$& to the pukes around us...so much so my friend begged me to lay off as he seriously thought we were going to get ganged up on.

We ended up on the field, I along with others did snow angels on the Cardinal logo in the middle of the field rubbing red into our clothes and hats. Ran around congratulating players, one of them Aneas Williams.

Having grown up a Cards fan (originally from St. Louis area) I completely lucked in to that being my first game.
