The win against the Redskins today becomes very big when you figure in the fact that the Seahawks lost to the Cowboys. That should give us a two game lead over both Seattle and San Francisco, going into Oakland, if I figured right.

Cudo's to Carson Palmer, who played pretty well in his return to the active roster, if not to complete health yet. I am proud of the way he battled to keep going today.

Last week I was hard on several receivers, Larry Fitzgerald in particular. Not so this week, as Fitz played in this game like he did during our Superbowl Run. While certainly lacking in speed compared to '08, he certainly was not lacking in toughness and willingness to go get the ball, and get into the end zone. He gets my game-ball today. He ran no lazy routs today either. He played like a man possessed. I am very proud of how he responded to Coach Arians' assessment of last week's receiver performance.

I thought the game was officiated rather inconsistently. On our first defensive series of the game, Big Dan Williams was grabbed by the face mask by a Redskin O-lineman, and had his face driven into the turf. No call by the officials. Later in the game the Cards were penalized for the same thing, on a critical third down when they were trying to get off the field. Much of the officiating seemed to come when there were critical downs at stake.

Washington came into the game as the most penalized team in the league, and the Cards as the least. At times it seemed like there was an attempt to balance that out in this game, as late in the game the Cards had been penalized 11 times to the 'Skins 6. In any event, I felt that the officiating was poor, as evidenced by the fumble review which gave Arizona the ball when the Washington receiver clearly had his knee down before the ball was separated from him. I won't say the officiating was biased, but I felt it was poorly called throughout the game in my opinion. I just want the officials to get it right, and they couldn't seem to do so all day, even with a clear replay to watch.

I am sure that the announce crew on Fox did not help matters much, as they seemed to be calling play by play from a script rather than from what was occurring on the field. The whole game seemed to take on a wierd feeling as a result of announcing and the officiating.

Anyway, a win is a win, and this was a big one for the Cardinals. Now, on to Oakland next Sunday. That one could become brutal.

Yes they did.

Still room for improvement, but we found a way to win and we did

What was up with the officiating today? It was very inconsistant

I never did figure out why Jackson didn't get a penalty for that late hit out of bounds.

This is one mentally tough team.

We are down to only one guy playing from our front seven from last season. We have rookies and castaways starting, and they just fight their butts off. Yes, it is starting to tell in terms of giving up yards, but we are doing better than anyone could reasonably expect.

The talking heads said a flag was down. Maybe there was offsetting penalties due to the scrum afterwards.

It was never really explained and it was about as blatant as could be. I still want to know why there was no penalty there.

I'm with you on this. It was an OBVIOUS personal foul and a flag was thrown. Then nothing comes of it. What the.....

That's my main beef, that and the clearly dirty play on Palmer when he made the play while in the grasp and falling down. That dude, just raked his face and pulled his helmet off, but no whistle, nothing.

Seattle only has 2 losses.. it is only a one game lead over them and they have not played.. and San Fran has 2 losses as well and has not had a bye, so it will only be a half game lead over them if they beat the rams - but we do hold the tiebreaker over them.

Our lack of depth and quality starters on D because of injury will show if we make the playoffs, but damn if they don't fight and believe in each other to make plays. This whole team believes.

What gets me is the supposed strength of our defense, the secondary, is by far the biggest weak spot on the team. The front 7 lost all the starters, but you sure can't tell it by the way they have been playing. We are allowing way too many passing yards and long third down conversions.

I was only able to track the game online. Two questions which could lead to coaching criticism. Why didn't we kick the field goal to put us up by 13 late in the game? Our kicker's on fire and we would have effectively ended the game right there. Why punt?

Also, did we go into all-out prevent defense? Because suddenly we couldn't slow Washington down to save our lives. It looked like it got ugly late. Then again, I couldn't watch the game, so I don't really know.

But whatever the answers to these questions, we got a huge win today. Great stuff, especially combined with the Seachickens loss. Oh, how galling it was, rooting for the Cowpies!

Secondary can only cover for so long if there is no pressure on the qb. Especially if it is a blitz.

Well, we play more man coverage than any team in the NFL, because we blitz like crazy to make up for our deficiencies up front. You cannot, no way in hell, cover any group of WRs man-to-man and not get burnt with today's NFL rules. On the other hand, getting the opposing QB to throw as fast as possible is one way to offset that.

If this team was capable of rushing four, and still getting pressure, while we play two-deep, we'd see a lot more of it. Instead, we put the onus on our best players on D, the CBs and it makes them look bad at times.

Very seldom we allow 3rd down conversions on plays that take a long time to develop. They are usually bang, bang plays. Also, we aren't knocking enough passes down as we play too far off the receivers. We gave up a lot of passing yards last week and quite a few this week. We sure aren't in the top 10 in passing yards allowed.

That's right 40. When you look at every play that torched us these last two weeks, we were trying to play man and blitz.

I believe this is deceptive. We sell out to stop the run. So the only progress we see is when they pass. Because teams are always passing. We don't give up a lot of points, minus the Denver game. Even then we may still be top 10 in points allowed.

We make teams one dimensional so they have to pass and the occasional pass play is therefore all we see.

Considering how much man we play and how often we make teams pass I think we've done exceptionally well.

As far as I can tell, our defensive philosophy is unique in the NFL 2014. We play far more man-to-man than any other team and you are SUPPOSED to be not able to do that with today's rules.

Yeah, you really have to give it up to our staff for thinking outside of the box and not playing D as others say you have too. It's bold and it has worked so far.

I watched part of the Bronco game this morning and the jets were having success. They were rushing 4, sometimes 5 and they were able to move Manning off his spot so it put him way out of synch and he couldn't get much going early. The Cards couldn't get enough of a rush on him to make him jittery so it didn't work for them. Jets ended up sucking and losing in the end but their early strategy worked.

Our early strategy worked fine until Stanton and Cambell went out. We were understaffed even before then.

Jets tried to use our playbook but Geno Smith is as bad as LT. He sucks. Bad.

Why in the world is Jaron Brown not playing at all? Is Ginn the one playing in front of him?

He played, missed the TD late in the 4th when we were pass happy instead of running it. Wasn't a perfect pass, but he should have high-pointed that thing.

As to why he's not playing more...see above. Lol
