His assets are his smarts, tenacity and ability to read the offense.

His drawbacks are his size and his speed.

in other words, he's a guy who would make Dave McGuinnes proud while making the defense look like crap. Yeesh, our 3rd round pick can't really be on the bubble already can he? That's just pathetic.

he is being outplayed by a LB of the exact same size that was a UFA from Idaho State....and Pago hasn't looked overwhelmed

unfortunately, everytime I've seen Buster in close to the ball, he's getting knocked over by Gado and Pinnock

if roster spots are determined by play in the PS at the backup positions, I'd definitely keep Pago over Buster

One thing to remember is Player's value on field goal attempts. He has been the holder for a long time, and the chemistry that he, Hodel and Rackers have is not something to take lightly.

That theory flew the coop last year. :D

Pago's actually lighter and faster (that has a lot to do with it, IMO...Buster isn't a "fast" player and the NFL is fast).

I didn't think Buster Davis was going to be more than a special teamer this season, but he's clearly been outplayed by Tongafu this preseason. He'll make the roster, and he'll be Whis's version of Elton Brown: A guy you burned a pick on but have to keep on the roster because it's embarrassing to give up on early picks.

When was Player's contract last extended? Can we add him to the list of bad contract work?

on the official site, they're listed at exactly the same weight (242), and Pago is an inch taller

however, Pago must be faster, and he certainly plays with more intensity

How can you cut the only guy on the team to have actually participated in a playoff game in a Cardinal uniform?

It was wedged in there on the bottom of the article but to me just like you it was a pretty damning statement.

Now, if Whisenhunt cut Davis, that WOULD really show me something about the guy. Benching Rolle was not much of a move in putting your "walk before your talk" on accountability. Cutting a first day pick would really be unusual for almost anybody nowadays.

Well Pago must have grown an inch and gained 30 pounds since the draft then. :)

Morey has been a holder before.

Me Too...Just like shanny admitting it was a mistake to take Mo Clarett in the third round. I like that in a coach.

The ST coach had ID'd four goals for the season, that I am going to track.

One of them was;

• A punting net average of 38 yards.

I wonder what Player's is for the preseason.

I ws tracking it up to the last game, I think it was 27, it may be up to 33/34 now, courtesy of the lucky bounce, but take that out and it is below 30.

However...

Clarett signed a non-guaranteed contract...so cutting him cost the Bronc's nothing.

Buster won't be cut this year but he might have been cut if not for the contract.

Well, the dbax didn't have much trouble cutting B. Kim, member of the 2001 WS team. :)

"Conspiracy Theory"

BARR is signed through the 2008 season with salaries of 285K in 2007 and 370K in 2008.
Wouldn't this - coupled with Player's reported $750K salary - free up roughly $500,000 to our cap pool in case we needed extra room to sign a higher profile TE, OT or OLB?

When Barr was signed "to bring in someone to compete with Player", my first thought was "Why?"

It's one thing to bring someone into camp at the very beginning and another to bring in someone "to compete" 4 days before the final cutdown date. It just doesn't make sense - unless either (a) because the coaches really like Barr that much - his net yardage this preseason is longer than Player's gross punting yardage or (b) to open up a little more cap room.

Player

If the move to bring Barr in is not part one of a two part or so move, then all we did was rearrange the deckchairs on the Lusitania.
