The doctor just put a rod in his leg in the second surgery. I liked him before but wouldn't touch him now.

That's a shame. Injuries like this before guys get their chance (and the $ to make them secure) are horrible. That's why I always hate the formulaic secondary plot in sports movies of the guy with all the promise who gets hurt right before the Big Game.

MLive.com's Tom Kowalski doesn't believe the Lions will draft Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas with the No. 2 overall pick.

Kowalski thinks the Lions will draft defense in the first round even if they trade down. Gaines Adams now appears the favorite to land at No. 2.

I misread that at first, and only saw "he Lions will draft Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas with the No. 2 overall pick." At that moment, I thought "complete the trade deal with the Steelers!" That scenario I only want to happen if JT isn't available.

You don't think his injuries will have an effect on his career? I don't know much about what happened to him but I do know that before the season he was being talked about as a possible Heisman candidate...that would be an interesting pick.

unfortunately i think his injuries will have a lasting effect on his career, which is a shame 'cuz i loved him coming into the year. wouldn't pass on AD for a later shot at bush.

I would be pleased with either Thomas or Peterson. I think Peterson makes a more immediate impact. It may take Thomas 1-2 years to make an impact. Sort of gets down to how fast you want to impact the team.

If either of those guys are there I don't think we're trading down.
