Cardinals | Team loses sixth-round draft pick to Patriots
Thu, 8 Feb 2007 16:09:23 -0800

Mike Reiss, of the Boston Globe, reports the Arizona Cardinals sent their sixth-round draft pick in the upcoming draft to the New England Patriots to complete the trade for OT Brandon Gorin that took place prior to the 2006 season. The sixth-round draft pick is the sixth overall pick in that round.

I think most of us thought it was the 7th pick.

Not that bad of a gamble if Gorin is let go. If Grimm can coach him up, a sixth isn't too bad for depth.

Got this off the Great Blue North Draft Site:

New England has a conditional #7 from Arizona (OT Brandon Gorin; could escalate to a 6th rounder depending on productivity)

How did this escalate to a 6th rounder based on productivity as Green never played him???? Did he even suit up for any games?

NFL.com says zero games started and zero games played in.

I thought that this was the case too.

It is a 6th.

The conitional pick was a 6th if he made the final roster and a 7th if he was cut.

So why didnt the Cards cut him prior to Week 17 and then resign him as a FA?

Gorin may have been the happiest player on the Cards when Green was fired. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear his name resurface this offseason as a potential starter.
