Not particularly exciting news. People thought Woodley was over the hill, this guy is 4 years older.

I'm good with this. Solid rotational player. Showed ability to win on occasion last year with Colts. Physical player. Also, this defense needs leadership which he brings. Weatherspoon does as well. Same with Woodley. Adding veteran leaders for the defense for the long season grind.

Colts fans are not happy about this. Redding was the leader of their defense, and he can still play at a high level. I think this could turn out to be one of the more underrated signings of the offseason.

I love this move. Cory Redding will turn 35 in November, but he still played at an extremely high level for Indianapolis last year, especially in terms of putting pressure on the quarterback. He's also a fantastic guy to have in the locker room, and his veteran leadership will definitely help in Arizona.

I figured Redding would sign a bigger contract, so I was a bit shocked to see him get just $6 million over two years. It's an incredible bargain for a player I had in the top 50 of my Top NFL Free Agent Rankings list. In fact, I had Redding rated higher than the departed Darnell Dockett, so Arizona made an upgrade up front while cutting salary.

I've been following his grades and the cards are getting good marks as usual since Keim's been gm.

Seems like most of the guys we're acquiring are considered strong locker room influences - should help with the young guys at D-line/linebacker.

Very good player, fits the Frostee Rucker / Vonnie Holliday mold of veteran 3-4 linemen coming here and contributing in a rotation.

We can free up $5 million more by cutting Larsen and Sendlein. I'm not losing any sleep over 2/$6 mil total for Redding.

Larsen has value because he can play both guard positions and center. I think he'll end up being our top backup on the interior, unless he beats out Cooper again.

Seems like we have addressed in FA all the defensive front and lb positions we had a need in: ILB, OLB, DE/DT. So what is left as far as greatest need in the draft?

It helps that we don't have to reach for a LB or DE at this point, even though we still need help, improvement, and depth there. We don't seem desperate now going into the draft.

That leaves us open to grab one of the 4 top players I feel just might drop to us at #24: Brown DT, Waynes CB, Collins S, Irving OL. If one of those 4 aren't available to us, then I would go ahead and splurge on Gordon at RB. I wouldn't take him over one of the Big 4 because there are nearly as good RBs we can get in both round 2 and 3, or even later in rounds 4-6.

Safety position is very weak IMO in this draft. Grabbing Collins if he is there would be a good move.

CB position is pretty deep in that there are quality players that can be had through round 4 or 5 if need be. I like Darby as a the mid round choice in 3 or 4. I like Gaines from Louisville as a later round choice too.

DT is a deep position in this draft also. You could get a starting DT in rounds 3 or even 4. I wouldn't mind Goldman in the 2nd round though.

I suppose I would be happy with a draft of:
1. Collins, S, Alabama
2. Goldman, DT, Fl St.
3. Johnson, RB, No Iowa
4. Mauldin, ILB/OLB, Louisville
5. Gaines, CB, Louisville or Darby, CB, Fl St.
6. Mason, OG, Geo Tech, Harrison, OG, Tex A&M, or Bridge, QB, So Alabama
7. Conley, WR, Georgia or Diggs, WR, Maryland

What OLB do you think that we've brought in that addresses a need? Sam Acho is probably a better player right now than LaMarr Woodley.

woodley will be just a back up pass rusher, acho more versatile
but doesnt provide much pressure
woodley if he is eager to show is not done can give something more then acho

I'm pretty sure no one would have an issue if we gave the same deal to Tommy Kelly and Redding is the same age and seems to be more productive as well. Hasn't showed any signs of regression, I am fine with it. DL depth will be very solid once again.
