Seems like we have addressed in FA all the defensive front and lb positions we had a need in: ILB, OLB, DE/DT. So what is left as far as greatest need in the draft?
It helps that we don't have to reach for a LB or DE at this point, even though we still need help, improvement, and depth there. We don't seem desperate now going into the draft.
That leaves us open to grab one of the 4 top players I feel just might drop to us at #24: Brown DT, Waynes CB, Collins S, Irving OL. If one of those 4 aren't available to us, then I would go ahead and splurge on Gordon at RB. I wouldn't take him over one of the Big 4 because there are nearly as good RBs we can get in both round 2 and 3, or even later in rounds 4-6.
Safety position is very weak IMO in this draft. Grabbing Collins if he is there would be a good move.
CB position is pretty deep in that there are quality players that can be had through round 4 or 5 if need be. I like Darby as a the mid round choice in 3 or 4. I like Gaines from Louisville as a later round choice too.
DT is a deep position in this draft also. You could get a starting DT in rounds 3 or even 4. I wouldn't mind Goldman in the 2nd round though.
I suppose I would be happy with a draft of:
1. Collins, S, Alabama
2. Goldman, DT, Fl St.
3. Johnson, RB, No Iowa
4. Mauldin, ILB/OLB, Louisville
5. Gaines, CB, Louisville or Darby, CB, Fl St.
6. Mason, OG, Geo Tech, Harrison, OG, Tex A&M, or Bridge, QB, So Alabama
7. Conley, WR, Georgia or Diggs, WR, Maryland
