Yep.

The only possible way the Cards can make the playoffs now is for:

1. Win out
2. Vikings and Saints must all lose out.
3. Redskins must lose two of remaining three
4. Carolina must lose one of their remaining games.

Not gonna happen...

Yeah, but Minnesota is going to lose.

So next week everyone will say "ooh, we still have a shot!!" but once we lose to ATL, then it's officially done.

You know it will happen, dude.

I'll yell my ass off to try and prevent it, but I'm not fooling myself here. This is a 6-10 team. I'd be ecstatic if they went 8-8 but it ain't gonna happen. The stadium will be dead with a game before Christmas, so home field isn't going to be as rowdy as normal, and the Cards will still think they are better than the opponent so not show up.

I'd rather be surprised with a win than crushed to the soul by the oncoming train of another loss to a sorry team we should beat in our sleep. The days of wine and Koolaid are long passed. :(

How you can think we will lose to the falcons, a team thats head coach just skipped out on them mid year, is weird..

we lost to a Niners team that had dropped 8 games in a row. Next week is exactly the type of game after which we'll have to read quotes like this from the Falcons after they win: "Man, we really needed something like this. We all did this for each other and for Emmitt Thomas who didn't quit on us".

Because this is EXACTLY the type of team and circumstance that the Cards lose in...

What they said above, and also...do you remember that the Niners hadn't scored 37 points in their previous 4 games COMBINED before they played us? There was no excuse to lose that game...and overlooking the falcons because they suck is the same thing.

Hey, if the Patriots were coming into town, we'd probably beat them and would damn sure cover. But if its a bad team, we are odds on favorites to lose.

This team still has SOME sense of pride..

We'll beat Atlanta. We're no longer in the playoff hunt, it's a "meaningless game," and so we'll win.

If we were still on the playoff bubble, they would probably tank to the Falcons, but since nothing is on the line except moving to a worse draft position, you can bet your ass the Cards will win.

I don't care, playoffs or not, I'm still going to the game, I'm still gonna yell my fool head off, and I still expect a Cardinal Win.

With the Redskins winning 2nite the only way (that I can see) the Cardinals staying "alive" past next week would be for the Cardinals to win and the Redskins and Vikings playing to a tie.

I surely hope I am wrong and am open to any other conspiracy theories that some of you might have that can keep the big red alive for the playoffs. With that being said I'm all ears.....

There is one scenario that could get the Cards into the playoffs without a Wasington-Minnesota tie:

Bears beat Vikings Monday night, Vikings beat Redskins next Sunday, Denver beats Vikings in week 17. Vikings finish 8-8.

Washington also loses its last game to Dallas (to finish 7-9) and Philly, Carolina, and Chicago lose another game and New Orleans loses both of their games (and thus do not get to 8-8).

Detroit wins out to get to 8-8 and Arizona wins out to get to 8-8.

The Cards, Vikings, and Lions would all be tied at 8-8. The division tiebreaker between the Lions and Vikings would be broken first and in Detroit's favor. Then the Cards head to head victory over Detroit would give them the final playoff spot.

It's equally improbable as the tie scenario, but here is how it must play out for the Cards to get in without the Vikings/Redskins tie:

Week 15
Bears over Vikings

Week 16
Cowboys over Panthers*
Eagles over Saints
Lions over Chiefs
Packers over Bears
Cards over Falcons
Vikings over Redskins

Week 17
Bills over Eagles
Cowboys over Redskins
Bucs over Panthers*
Bears over Saints
Lions over Packers
Broncos over Vikings
Cards over Rams

*only one of these needs to happen

Realistic bottom line: When the Vikings smash the Bears tomorrow night, the Cards will be put out of their misery and this will all be moot...

Actually, this is the type of game that we win. One of the "meaningless" games at the end of the year that just keeps us outside of the blue chip draft players. (unless you count AP still being there last year)

The Card were put out of their misery tonight and were officially eliminated from the playoff race.

I guess I'll root for the Vikings to hold on to the last playoff spot. They probably have the best chance to threaten Seattle then Dallas, plus I like watching Adrian Peterson play.

Man it makes me kind of sick knowing we could've had Peterson on this team just another great rb we passed on :(. That move that Adrian Peterson made to score his 2nd rushing td vs the bears last night was sick
