Philly ILB Zack Baun has also been pretty dominant in the playoffs. I'd love to see us sign Sweat and Baun, and then take a DT in round one...Walter Nolan please.
Interesting that is was his full year as a starter at 28. Over the cap has a $20 million a year number on him right now. I'd rather bring back White at half thst if that is what his market really is. He also never played for Gannon or Rallis.

Simmons in 1995 was great! 11 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and a pick 6! And Joyner had 6 INTs in 3 years along with 11 sacks as a LB. Definitely both were highlights from the horrible Buddy eara.
I remember the first Buddy home preseason game against the Niners. It was on a Saturday night, after a monsoon and on the defense’s very first time on the field, we got pressure on Steve Young, hammered him, the ball went up in the air and Simmons caught it for a 20ish yard pick-6 TD. That stadium erupted in a way never seen before and an indelible image is still burned into my brain as I can still see the moment, clear as day when I looked up into the sky and the bright night lights made the post Monsoon drizzle look like gold flints falling the sky as if football heaven had finally opened its gates and was raining down on us lowly Cardinals fans.

Little did I know, that was a completely different type of g-olden shower being rained down from above, almost as if forewarning our moronic asses about the kind of ish-show the football Gods were really about to unleash on us.

Good times, though!

This team ain’t going out and signing the top defensive FA in the game, who’s in the prime of his career.

Sweat likely gets tagged and even if he doesn’t, better teams with more creative cap maneuvering with go get him.

I agree. I don't think either Josh Sweat or Milton Williams are coming here.

You don't go from showing out in the Super Bowl to signing for the Cardinals. That's not to dump on the Cards, I think we are heading in the right direction and players will want to sign here, but both these guys will have better ranked teams interested in them such as Washington and Detroit.

Sweat used the post season to secure 28mil a year...and likely 30.
I wouldn't hate on the signing but we ain't 1 player away just yet

Josh Sweat (Best season)
Sacks: 11
Tackles: 48
TFL: 15
QB hits: 23

Marcus Golden (Best season)
Sacks: 12.5
Tackles: 51
TFL: 16
QB hits: 22

JOSH ain't worth 28 or 30m, in my estimation.

Josh wouldnt be the first good, but not great, player coming off a big Superbowl performance to get a contract far bigger than his performance would suggest

i like the player, i just dont think grossly over-paying is the way to go

Yeah. I think he's more likely to be overpaid because he's the most productive Edge in this free agency class than this one game. This Edge class is D-I-R-E. :barf:

I really think we're going to spend our free agency dollars on upgrading the offensive line and hope to improve the pass rush through the draft. Seems like the most efficient way to go about it, even if IOL are going to be very expensive again.

what kind of gm let's qb rushing talent walk after the season we just watched? eagles can't pay everybody so i could see those guys actually reaching free agency - but other gms should be holding on to that talent for dear life

monti better find success in putting said talent on the field this year or it's hot seat city - idc how he does it

Philly only has $18 million in cap space with 49 players under contract. Look at those base salaries; there isn't anywhere to free up cap space until you get to Cam Jurgens, and you'd have to extend him.

Man, I forgot about that.

Buddy's teams weren't great but those were two signings that we definitely got value out of.
I loved both of those dudes. Seth is one of my favorite eagles of all time despite my hatred for them.

I really believe that upgrading the Cards interior pass rushers is a bigger priority than edge (edge is still a need tho..)

I think the Eagles edges -- Nolan Smith and Josh Sweat -- are both solid but not great. They are productive because the interior rush forces qbs to start moving around.

Looking at all the Eagles sacks vs Mahommes -- one was from Kelce throwing a weak block on Sweat off the edge -- but the rest came from interior pressure forcing Mahommes to start moving around, giving the edge guys angles to him.
