Looks like STH discounts are back.

The Cardinals announced a 15.6 percent price increase on its non-premium seats for the 2008 season.

Last year's average price was $56.27, which ranked 26th out of 32 NFL teams, according to Team Marketing Report. The average price now is $65.05, slightly under the NFL's 2007 average of $67.11.

That average will rise this year, and Cardianls team officials say the Cardinals prices likely will be in the lower third of the league.

Ticket prices will range from $25 to $92.50. The $25 ticket is among the least expensive in the NFL, according to the Cardinals.

It'll cost an average of $65.05 per ticket to see the Cards here next season.

Here is the pricing breakdown provided by the Cardinals:

Lower/main level Season (per game) Single-gameSidelines $92.50 $112.50Corners $70 $90End zones $60$80 Ring of HonorSeason (per game) Single-gameSidelines $92.50 $102.50Corner/ End zone $70 $80Terrace LevelSeason (per game) Single-gameMidfield $70 $80Sidelines $60 $70

That seems like a pretty substantial increase. The ones(mine) that went from 15.00 to 25.00 is a 66% increase.

If they do it at that rate for a few years I will most certainly be priced out. The good thing IMO is that most of the people in those 15.00 seats will not pay that much of an increase.

That;s true. It seems like the Cards are preparing for games that are not sold out by charging 50 bucks for your $25 seats.

Even a 15.6% increase across the board is quite a jump. Have they ever increased by that % before? Seems like 5-6% would be more reasonable.

Ehh, not too bad since I have an upper-level corner ticket. I like that overall view anyway.

Still a good value considering this is the freakin' NFL, and unlike other teams, Cardinals throw in a parking pass.

I can't remember a larger price increase either. It seems like the $10 tickets the first year and the $15 tickets last year were a teaser rate to sell out the stadium. Now we will see what happens.

Maybe I'll temper back my comments a bit. I just looked and my 2006 Tix were 25 face, 2007 tix were 30 face, and 2008 are now 40 face. 60% increase in just two years.

I think the tickets started off at teaser rates to get that thing sold out. It will be real interesting to see how this affects renewal rates given the high increase in prices combined with the novelty of the new stadium wearing down on top of a slowing down economy.

On the bright side, if this slows down scalper inventory, I don't think I would have a problem with that.

Definitely raising ticket prices at a very high rate. No Doubt about it.

We knew they were planning on raising prices each of the first 5 years in the new stadium.

It'll also help the owners get some more money (which they DO NOT need) which will be a baby step in profitability...

which in turn will please the owners who actually make money aside from revenue share (I'm pointing the finger at Snyder and Jones)...

who continually moan about it every offseason and are usually the businessmen responsible for the continual CBA crisis the league faces every 5 years.

So the average joe (a joeshmo, if you prefer) is stuck trying to rectify the owner's discrepancy.

Havent you noticed the rise in oil and food prices? Despite the fact that the govt excludes the most important things from its reported inflation calculation (food and gas) we have inflation. That calculation is also used to set COLAs for social security and other programs. So as long as granny doesnt eat food or drive a car she is doing great. Say thank you to the artificially low interest rates over the last several years that were set to make the incumbents look good. You had better get used to dramatic price increases in everything.

Terrace LevelSeason (per game) Single-gameMidfield $70 $80

which # is it? ...... if it's $70 that's not too bad of an increase as I believe the seats were 67.50 last year

if it's 80 then it's started to get a bit pricey for my current seats

wow...feels way off topic and political, they are NFL tickets, cheap ones, if you can't afford it, its on tv now, watch at home. Not a big deal.

If I didn't love the atmosphere so much, I'd be happy to watch it at home.

I agree, that's why I will renew. Ticket increases are expected, I am fine with it. I spend a lot more on stupid ish that is nowhere near as valuable to me as a sunday in glendale.

If the tickets are eventually priced in the top-third of the league, we should all rejoice...that means they're winning.

Exactly!

As someone has already stated, it was planned that the ticket prices were to rise in each of the first five years in the new stadium. Of course they were kept low in the first couple of years in an attempt to sell out! No one (except Cardinal haters) wanted to see a half-empty brand new stadium.

Perhaps the percentage of increases have been somewhat higher than expected, perhaps not. But as Pariah points out; that is the cost of success. The more the Cardinals win the more tickets will cost - Count on it!

For comparison sake, Prices for Patriots home games:
Upper Corner/End Zone - $65
Upper Level Sideline - $89
Lower Level Corner/End Zone - $117
Lower Level Sideline - $169

That's the price of succe$$!

How is my comment political? I mentioned no names and no political parties. Incumbents include both parties. Inflation is caused by too much paper money chasing too few goods. That is not politics. That is economics.

I'm sure I'll pay the increase, but I don't have to like it. Why don't they actually try winning first. Sorry but to increase prices for three straight years and continually talk about how your prices are in the bottom third... (when your product has been perennially at the bottom of the standings) does not sit well with me.

What an underwhelming response. My seat in the new stadium is roughly the same as it was at Sun Devil Stadium. Ticket Prices:

2005-$62.30
2006-$75.00 (20.4% Hike)
2007-$82.50 (10.0% Hike)
2008-$92.50 (12.1% Hike)

Three year hike: 48.5%

And while I'm sure we're all happy that Cardinals ticket prices average lower than most NFL cities, that's true of everything about Arizona. We have lower real estate values, lower incomes, lower costs for just about everything. When my discretionary spending averages $120 per week ($6,240 per year), a season ticket costing $623 is about 10% of my fun money. When the Cardinals decide they need 15% of my fun money, I can't help but think about it.

Maybe I'll enjoy it just as much on TV and just keep my nearly $1,000 per seat.

Wow, so does that mean that my sideline seats will cost $105 and $120 in 2009 and 2010 respectively (steady progression of annual increase)?

Supply and demand will kick in at some point. It'll be weird seeing the stadium less full.
