Good signing. The money seems a little high for an older dude who plays 60% of the snaps, but he is a proven player who fills a big need.
Not to worry. In JG’s system, he won’t sniff 60% of the snaps.

Here’s what I like about this move the most… outside of it being a solid move on its own, it shows Monti isn’t afraid to move on from possible prior mistakes in FA like it looks like he made at DT last offseason.

Best minds are those willing to admit they’re wrong. And I’m happy to admit Sweat and Thomlinson are more than I expected to get in FA.
I’m absolutely sure that Monti isn’t admitting any mistakes were made in respect to the DT’s he signed last year. People do get injured in the NFL, and they didn’t play long enough to truly be judged a mistake. I expect they both will make contributions this year, but only time will tell.

Good enough not to be a liability IMO.

Adding another Edge and DT in the draft would make it even better.

"not to be a liability" I think is fair. A better room vs. 2024, yes.

"good enough to get us to the playoffs" is probably fair too.

Is that a DL room that could pull it's weight in a Superbowl win? Don't know about that Bach. In 2025 we'll need a lot more from Nichols, Jones and DRob for that to be true.

I agree.

The good news is that we will get a lot more from those three considering that all three were basicly out the entire year.

The other good news is that Tomlinson pushes snap counts for Jones and Nicols down to 3rd and 5th in the rotation, which is probably where they contribute best.

That still will not make it an elite DT room. But I do believe it would take it from the worst to mid-level. Add a high draft pick and it could be even higher.

We DEFINITELY need a WR with speed. Your other needs go without saying.
They kept Weaver on the 53 all last season. Maybe they thought another team would snatch him from the practice squad.
I am curious if they have him in their long term plans or just want to give him a full off season to see if they can develop him into a solid 3 or 4 WR.

Cardinals had two holes entering FA, and Monti was able to add an EDGE and DL (last second hail mary) who instantly become the Cardinals best players at those respective positions. Can now be patient with OL and look for value if they want.

Hail Mary?

Saw an opportunity when Tomlinson got cut and jumped on it.

He may have anticipated that Tomlinson might be available with Garrett's monster new deal.

I am happy with this as well, but I still think we need a DT at 16. This guy isn't a big needle mover in the sack department. We still need that passing down disrupter. But yes, a good signing.
I now think we will be looking OL now.

You have to wonder if Monti had conversations with Cleveland about Tomlinson before his release. There might have been more planning and negotiation involved than the public realizes. We'll probably never know, but Monti sure did react very quickly to Tomlinson's release.

Let’s go!!!
Kudos to you for being on top of Dalvin being released and suggesting that Monti needed to bring him in. We both really wanted Monti to aggressively go after Thomlinson and much to my excitement he did!

Tomlinson is a massive upgrade over what the Cardinals had at NT last season.

Plus Dalvin will be a great mentor for any young DL that the Cardinals bring in via the draft.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this pickup!!!!!!!!

I’d still take Grant, but I understand the concern about getting a long term RT.

Yeah I love the idea of Grant learning from Tomlinson. Seems like a match made in heaven and quite the rotation that will keep both guys fresh.
