I can be down with that. Unfortunately, I think this means Monti doesn't go DT before round 3.
Low key, there are a lot of DL around that area of the draft that I like.

DeWayne Carter for one. I could also see Sweat falling to that area because fans always value jumbo run stuffers more than NFL teams.

We shall see. The good thing is, the sky is definitely not falling after the start of FA :)

BTW, Jones was #24 on The Athletic’s top 150 FA list:

Jones has really good quickness and lateral range for the position, and his instincts and nose for the ball make him very productive, as he anticipates blocks well. His get-off and ability to get up and down the line of scrimmage are his biggest strengths. He raised his stock considerably with a career-best season in 2023. — Mueller

Sounds like an ascending player who will be in a rotation. Fills a need.

I'll take The Athletic evaluation over PFF any day.

This was my least favorite move of the day on the face of it.

As K9 said, I think the least likely to outperform his contract.

But I looked at the number compared to Zach Allen who got $15.25m last year.

Jones is the first number, Allen the second.

TFL 10 10
Sacks 4.5 5.5
Pressures 22 25
QB Hits 17 20
QBKD 12 12

Jones is almost exactly 1 year older than Allen and did it a season later. But going off their last season paying $11m per in a higher market vs $15.25m last year isn't as bad as I thought.

Jones is a solid vet 3T coming off his best year that hasn't missed a game for 2 years. I'd be happier if it was $8m per year but it's nit picking.
