it's just annoying that this team continually looks for "the diamond in the rough" instead of diamonds... or even any other kind of gem, always consistently trying to squeeze a diamond out of coal.

and for those of you who are going to say they've found some pretty good ones so far, a 4-13/8-9 record flies in the face of that argument. They have money to spend, even overspend a little here and there. But ultimately, a leopard can't change it's spots.
well yeah man okay...but we gonna win 16 games this season.
its right there in the trend...4 doubled to 8...now 8 is gonna double to 16

we just be doublin,...Monti has totally got this

in true Cardinal fashion its just gonna take 2 pro bowl rookie seasons to get it done...we so got this

We 100 percent know Monti is nickle and diming the position and shopping in the dollar bin rather than, you know, being aggressive.
there are several high end MLB/ILB in this draft..perhaps Monti grabbed this guy as insurance and plans to draft a guy in round 3 to be the starter halfway through his rookie season

I believe Brit has it right. He's the place holder for a draft pick.
Right… who will take at least a year or two to actually get up to speed. In other words a downgrade this year right in the heart of the defense… and no guarantee of being better next.

Sweet.

there are a few guys in this draft who are more than likely starters before the end of their rookie season. we get one of those guys and we have a big upgrade in the middle

I believe that the Cardinals want Kyzir back but he is asking for a large raise. So they are letting him test the market. Hopefully the Cardinals are able to re-sign him and some other team doesn't offer him a huge contract. The longer that White is a FA the better him returning with the Cardinals.

Possible but not probable.

We have a ton of available cap space. To roll the dice on the possibility of a ending up with a rookie at a position that often takes several years to master is the definition of cheap.

we keep touting this 4 wins to 8 wins like it's some big deal - even tho kyler himself was 1 game below .500 in both seasons

no improvement

Man… you’ve been around for wayyyyy too long to believe this. They got his cheap replacement for 5 million bucks. They moved on and so will he.

Who was the last good rookie MLB? When was the last time an MLB in his second year made the Pro Bowl?

The meta has changed at this position. I used to believe that it was the easiest transition in the NFL (and it was 10-15 years ago). Today rookie off-ball linebackers have so many more responsibilities than they did, and the college game is so much more simplified.

See, this is the crap we always talk about. We can't ever just make a string of solid moves like teams with a real plan do. If ADG is expected to replace or be an upgrade to Kyzir (take your pick) then we have to ensure that the front is THAT much better so as to not expect him to actually make plays. He will likely be a guy that makes tackles and is "always in the right place" but rarely makes a difference. This plan for edge/interior line better work the hell out or the Sweat signing will be a mammoth waste.

I’m not sure why we’d even assume that. He was mostly a backup for his entire career, and came in and was pedestrian at best on an atrocious D for 7 games.

Cheese, I'm going off of the median optimism that I'm sensing among those that are okay with this rather than my own opinion. How this guy isn't just a JAG at this point is beyond me. Skill wise, we probably already have him on the roster and didn't need to expend valuable dollars to make this move.

Thank you for confirming what everyone on here already knows: When the team makes a move, it's a good one to you. Funny enough, he wasn't one of the guys you were listing as a good replacement for White...until he was signed.

Also, you "pointing out" anything on White is simply you crying that your opinion is fact. It's not. You are in the minority that think he's trash. You're allowed to be heinously wrong. See? You're not the only one who can throw out wild claims.
This. All day this.
