If we couldn't get Tulloch (who knows if we even made the call, which we should have), then I think he was one of (if not the) best alternative out there.

I agree, gmabel. Again, here is a player heading into his prime. He's overcome an ACL injury, as O'Brien Schofield has---and as they get stronger, both these players could make our defense stronger and tougher.

I think Bradley will play inside next to Washington and they could make an excellent tandem.

Now this is a "thumper", Mitch.

I guess this guy is the "big addition" to our defense and we might as well hope for the best. "If healthy" is a terrible phrase to have to keep using, but hopefully he can make a difference. If healthy.

good signing... he and Lenon can platoon and solidify the SILB positon...

solid, assuming we didn't overpay...

In my mind I am just going to include him into the Eagles trade... Looks better and better to us :D

Not trying to down play the fact the guy does have some recent injuries, but honestly, isn't that something you can say about everyone in the league at this point? I predict Larry Fitzgerald will have a great year if he stays healthy!

It's true, but this guy has demonstrated that he can't stay healthy so I think it's a fair point. Call me a dick for pointing it out all you want, but the Cardinals have the cap space for any player in free agency and they chose to target a guy who missed all of 2009 and 4 games in 2010 (when he also lost his starting job).

Solid risk/reward signing. He was excellent a couple years ago, but he was pretty unimpressive last year. Hopefully, he's the first of multiple linebacker signings, because I doubt we can count on him for a full season.

True!

I really like his playing style. Just a few more pieces to go and the Cards are set.

See, that's the problem. I'll bet you a buck he isn't. This will be it. If we signed some reliable, proven performers (or already had them on the roster) Bradley would be a great risk/reward play. But our defense was terrible last year - if this is all we're getting, did we improve it?

I think the injuries are a fair point, and if we see the contract and he is overpaid and getting way too much gauranteed money I might change my tune. But if he clears his physical and appears to be 100% healthy right now (the concussions are probably the most difficult part of that equation), and we are getting him at a reasonable price, then it's a good signing if someone like Tulloch did not fit into our plans financially. Who else was really out there?

Good point, gmabel---and let's not forget, as much as we would like to have Tulloch---he has multiple offers and options at this point.

Please don't be the next Al Johnson :crossesfingers:

Exactly the vibe I get from this signing. As others have said this could be a good risk/reward signing, but if the team is counting on him to start more than 10 games the risk is too high.

Good points. Two things: with the amount of cap space we have, nobody should have been out of our financial plans unless we're looking for cheap solutions only.

Two, I hope I'm totally wrong about this, but from personal experience there is no such thing as being "over" concussions and I can't imagine that it won't be an issue for a guy who's thumping the middle to stop the running game.

But as you point out, any player could get a concussion I suppose.

We improved in the most important aspect of the defense: coaching.

It's not necessarily the pieces you bring in, but the person putting those pieces together and devising the master plan.

Simply scrapping Davis and bringing in Horton was the most profound move we made so far in the offseason. I think with Horton's background, more animated personality and what I perceive as a more organized defensive scheme, we'll see more production.

Even if we don't sign anymore defensive players (even with the departure of DRC), I still think we improve leaps and bounds. I am confident in this.

Do you remember me promoting the signing of Roth around here since as early as January or are we just totally on the same page here?:D

Either way that would be a very solid group.
